How dead do you think the crowds would have been? There's a reason why people believed Retribution was the biggest disaster. Hell, the Wrestlecrap article on them stated that it was a faction "that could have only existed in 2020." There's a lot that has been said about that year, enough that memes have been made involving how years from now, history teachers will have multiple units on events that happened that year, but this isn't about that year. Now that I think about it, had the pandemic not happened, could the faction have still formed? I wonder if the lazy execution was what made this angle fail.
This faction was clearly trying to be like 2020's version of Nexus, which kind of was a failure in its own right (and had a lot of potential). Think about it. NXT talent, check. A takeover angle, check. Introduction leading to some kind of destruction, check. Anybody who was watching in 2010, whether it was on TV or in the arena, will remember the introduction of Nexus, whether it was Bryan strangling Justin Roberts, among other things. I remembered that the crowd went silent, but mostly out of confusion as to what had happened.
Retribution, on the other hand, debuted during the Performance Center days, when there were no crowds (unless you count the NXT talent being used as a crowd). Some of the stuff that happened made me more like "what was the point in that?" than "oh my god!"
I could only imagine that if crowds were around when Retribution was around, that faction would have died a lot faster. What do you think?

Retribution was only terrible because of who they included in it and how they made them look.
A group of vandalists dressed like they're from The Purge would've been much better.
Slapjack looked like a f***ing goofball but put that man in a pig mask and give him a baseball bat and all of a sudden he looks credible.

the people involved were fine... the fact they really didn't do anything and looked like goobers was the main problems.

I can remember them saying: “This is our house now.”
Yet, a couple of laths later, they were portrayed as goofs.

Honestly if they did the same thing? Not well. They had like the one big Smackdown where they were treated like a threat otherwise they acted like teenagers who thought they were badass. I will always remember them standing outside the performance center with a ref yelling at them to leave and they threw a brick through a window. Like it literally came off as so lame.

Hey, that last part kind of works if it went in a Hotline Miami type of direction.

Sports entertainment crowds love chainsaws & molotov cocktails so my guess is it would have been the biggest thing since The Corre.

I feel like they would've initially been pretty over and it would've rapidly passed with what ineffectual goobers they were.
Kind of wish someone got to keep the theme, it's surprisingly good. I know T-Bar has a remix of it but it's terrible.

I wasn't watching during this period so I always forget just how in bad taste Retribution was. Good f***ing lord lmao.

Yeah if they had crowds it would of went over huge. Slapjack would of caused a new boom period. Think of the potential matchups. Cena vs Slapjack. WM Hollywood with Slapjack vs the rock.
Print the money!

Imagine the security footage of Retribution in their hoodies beating up a group of fans before RAW. It would have led to incredible TV!!!

The Nexus destroyed the ringside area, kicked the crap out of the company's top star, and choked a guy out with his tie. Retribution flipped the light switch on and off. With crowds, Retribution might not have lasted long enough to get to the unmasking part.

With crowds, Retribution might not have lasted long enough to get to the unmasking part. They did come out and chainsaw the ring and spraypaint some of the arena... so they did have a decent debut when they actually got to that part... it was the "molotov" to the generators... and the brick to the broken window and the "we are being told a group of people are coming to raw tonight" it was already too late at that point
