Rick Rude when he cut his hair. The long hair was a great look but he looked more like a top guy without the jerri curl.

100%
The biggest one for me is probably Bray Wyatt. Couldn't care less about him or his rambling nonsensical promos when he was doing the whole "Spooky Demonic Cult Leader" gimmick. To me, he looked like shit.
But as soon as he returned with the short beard and Children's TV show presenter gimmick? I was all in. He quickly became my favorite wrestler in the company. Add The Fiend on top of that gimmick and it was a home run. I'm still pissed how badly they handled that character. He should've just been a monster. He should've never been no selling 10 Curb Stomps or getting burned alive. They made it way too stupid when it didn't need to be.
Other changes I hated... MVP losing the sleeves on his attire. His original Power Rangers attire was unique and stood out. The sleeveless version just makes him look like every other wrestler who wears a singlet.
"Plain nostalgia" Matt Hardy with his stupid chin strap facial hair makes me want to turn the television off. I have absolutely no time for "serious" Matt Hardy... But Broken Matt with the afro, beard, funny accent and cool coats/pants? Count me in.
Also, I'm on board with those who've said they hate Daniel Bryan's long hair/beard look. He looks way better with a buzz cut and plain Maroon gear. That's his thing.

It's a weird thing in wrestling where 'unique' isn't always a good thing in terms of looks and in terms of being taken seriously. Aside from Miz as has been mentioned, Chris Hero is another example I can think of where the most seriously he was taken was arguably when he was with Claudio in Kings of Wrestling, and had the matching trunks and such.
I think when someone's making a switch to trunks or tights from more street clothesy gear, it needs to look like an evolution of their gear, versus a step backwards. Miz kept pretty much all of the same logos and motifs he already had but just streamlined it onto the trunks and kickpads.
And by "a step backwards", I mean like Kevin Thorn or Raven being sent out in plain trunks near the ends of their WWE runs, where it really did feel like everything that made them distinct was being stripped away from them.

Matt Hardy is someone I took more serious when he switched to the tights as opposed to his “classic” ring gear

That's an interesting point I've never considered. I suppose overall direction plays a part, on the way up it's taken as shedding what's not necessary, on the way down it's not just losing matches but part of who they are. The new and improved Dolph Ziggler being another good example, made him so generic it only lasted a week (iirc).

Otis with no beard went to looking even more like a giant baby When The Big Lebowski's John Goodman ate Roseanne's John Goodman.

He has the looks of Andre the Giant, and the strength of Barry Windham. Not to mention he's a hero to a few armadillos, a kangaroo and a small herd of bison.

No beard makes Otis look like a bigger Francis from Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
Also bald, goatee and no mustache Big Show was one of his worst looks, even if he was tagging with Jericho at the time.

- Lita going from the Hardy boyZ gear, cargo pants, tank and thong to scantily and dressed up during the rated R days was such a downgrade (but again, that was the point). The bangs look was terrible.

Billy Gunn losing the mustache and mullet in late '95 made him look younger and cockier and kind of foreshadowed the Gunns' heel turn.

Jericho going from tights to trunks made me think of him as more of a serious main event wrestler.

Give me Andre Chase fighting Otis in a boiler room so he can yell “go ahead and scream! We’re miles from where anyone can hear you!” And I want to see those live cameramen when he says it.

2002 Shinsuke Nakamura, looks like a bland, shoot style wrestler, probably good, but there's loads of guys like him. Shinsuke Nakamura, 1 of a kind legend
