The only question to ask. Is this a legit 5 star match?

Two big dudes beating each other senseless is the best kind of match.

For as much as Eddie Kingston loves biting the 4 Pillars All Japan style, Gunther does it so much better and effortlessly.

That match was everything it needed to be.
And even if he didn't win the title, Sheamus still got what may be his biggest moment in his career. Just having a hard-hitting brawl with one of the best brawlers on the planet and being more than capable of holding his ground.

For as much as Eddie Kingston loves biting the 4 Pillars All Japan style, Gunther does it so much better and effortlessly. Eddie'd eat Gunther's lunch any day of the week on doing any sort of promo or character work, but Gunther's maybe the best at what he does on the planet, so it evens out, I'd say.

Folks, I can't wait to see Dragunov vs. Gunther again on the main roster and Dragunov vs. Sheamus. Holy moly!!!!!! Edit: Oops, triple post. My bad. I was thinking the SAME thing during the match, like, give us Dragunov vs. Gunther at least ONCE with a full ass crowd, preferably on PPV. Will Ilja be good by the Rumble? Do it at the Rumble, that crowd is always hyped up. And now that current WWE isn't afraid to acknowledge past things happening prior to main roster, the feud would be super easy to book. Sheamus vs. Gunther though? Easily my MOTN. (I don't really watch Smackdown still, have Gunther's chops lost their "oomph" since he's lost the weight? Some of them were loud, but they don't seem as "omg that man is dead" as they used to to me)

It was fantastic, a proper butcher's market out there with all that meat slapping. Sheamus got the more organic reaction compared to Drew which was well deserved, buts it crazy that they both f***ing lost.

The McIntyre stuff is going to be well-trodden ground over the next few days into weeks into months. As it relates to Sheamus, though, I feel Gunther needed this match and this win just as much as Sheamus did. He's been booked decently strong on the main roster so far, but he'd lost a lot of what made him special in that process. I'd argue this was the first time since he left NXT UK that we had the proper Ring General on show in the territory.

Eddie has his moments, but he comes across try hard to me 90% of the time. When he hits he really hits, but to me, he misses more often than not. Strictly talking character/promo stuff. He's good in ring.

This was similar to Owens vs Cena to me, where Gunther had to win the first match. He had to show he can go & beat a former world champion and legit upper card guy.

I do absolutely agree with all the Gunther points, and to be honest in hindsight, the ovation Sheamus got (despite losing) justified the booking in that regard but it's madness it came on the same night they booked that finish for Drew. Not only that, but I've only just processed that Finn was on the card and that he lost too!

That felt like they were teasing Butch & Ridge heel turns to me. Either that or WWE has made me way too cynical.
