He definitely wants to prove he can get people on his side, but there's something very purposeful in doing it with somebody who you have aggrieved in some way. If Raj Giri was dropping a suspiciously pro-Punk take on events it would be a wrestling journalist. But Nick Hausman's involvement makes getting him to begin standing up for all of Punk's claims way more effective. Punk gets the points of burying the hatchet with the guy he did the least to in that whole situation and then he gets someone who is so moved by the Real Facts of Puk's argument that he's now parroting even the bizarre shit literally everyone else says is fake. Turning someone from the guy you went out shouting at in public into the guy telling Meltzer "Yeah Punk is great and everyone wants to give him a rimjob, he doesn't need wrestling, anyway so the Bucks totally leaked all the shit out to you right?" is such a basic value grab.

Most of what I remember about his acting career is him losing out to Sheamus to play Rocksteady. Which, Sheamus both looked much more the part and his accent probably helped him stand out in a good way, so no wonder he lost.
