I'm hearing that Operation Unicorn has been activated, which is basically the plan for if the Queen does in Scotland.
The England and Wales version being Operation London Bridge

Best wishes to her, although at 96, she's had a great innings. Amazing lady.

The faces these sign language interpreters make are always so amusingly expressive.
It must be part of the technique for it to be so common, but it's almost like an SNL sketch with grim news and a sign language interpreter like 😲🤪🥴😜

There will be bugger all on the TV for a few days now. I’m not a fan of the Royals but I do respect the Queen and obviously it’ll be a sad day when she dies. But I hate the fact that the main channels decide that they are not allowed to show anything else other than rolling news coverage and reaction to it.

A quick google suggests that 33 countries have had her portrait on their currencies
(Not sure if that is the current number)

Why both main channels of the main broadcaster needed to show coverage was beyond me and complete overkill. The BBC even created a page specifically for people to complain about their coverage of his death. Have one of the two channels dedicated to coverage if you must but both channels at the same time is completely unnecessary. When the day comes that the Queen dies, it’ll be the same thing but for longer than a couple of days.

She's likely to be the last queen for 100 years, given the three next successors are all male. Next chance of queen would be if George's first born is a daughter. Would be cool if she became Queen Elizabeth III.

Including the radio. But in terms of viewing, BBC One and BBC Two have higher audiences by far. There’s basically six main channels in this country : BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Four, Five and Sky Showcase (formerly Sky One).

As someone with an interest in the monarchy (though not the Windsors specifically), her passing has been something I've been trying to wrap my head around. She hasn't just been queen my entire life, she's been queen my *mom's* entire life. She's literally never not been queen to us. It'll be strange to have someone else, just historically speaking. It must be similar to how people felt when Victoria died, or especially Louis XIV in France.

Even my grandparents were only in their 20's when she became queen.

I read that the Netflix show The Crown has specific plans set up if the Queen dies during production.

Her greatest moment is when she assigned 007 to personally accompany her parachute drop at London 2012 in order to evade Blofeld's plan to ambush her by road en route to the stadium.
