I'm sorry for all Britains, because the times of turmoil will intensify once more. Take care!

RIP. My Grandmother always held the monarchy in very high regard, so I was raised with a healthy respect for the Queen. This is truly a sad day.

Doesn’t feel real atm. All happened so fast. Condolences to her family and friends. For millions of people she is all they will ever have known as Queen including my parents who were both born after her coronation.

Hugh Edwards on bbc1 mentioned Charles as the King. Feels strange I don't think it'll feel too odd until I start seeing his picture on money. (Charles, that is, not Hugh Edwards, which would be really odd)

When Philip died both BBC 1 and 2 had rolling coverage and reaction to his death and cancelled every single show scheduled on those channels for a day or two. Why both main channels of the main broadcaster needed to show coverage was beyond me and complete overkill. The BBC even created a page specifically for people to complain about their coverage of his death. Have one of the two channels dedicated to coverage if you must but both channels at the same time is completely unnecessary. When the day comes that the Queen dies, it’ll be the same thing but for longer than a couple of days. I'm not British but I thought BBC had several channels? They do, but when Phillip died they cut off all broadcasts on all channels, and told people to watch BBC one for coverage. Despite the most complaints any TV broadcast has ever had, they said they'd do even more of it when the Queen died.

Huw Edwards is really speaking slowly. I keep thinking of Homer ringing up for tips on who’s going to win American Football games. Hope he doesn’t have to say Cincinnati.

It often happens with elderly couples, when one of them dies the other can follow soon after. I remember seeing her at Prince Phillip's funeral & feeling bad at how lonely she seemed.
This is obviously a huge day for international news, but I can only think of her as a mother & grandmother right now. Always sad when someone loses a member of the family, & my heart goes out to them.
Queen Elizabeth always seemed to show a great deal of grace & hold herself very respectfully in the eyes of the world. The outpouring of grief will be heartfelt, I'm sure.

To put in perspective: Churchill, Truman and Stalin were among some of the current leaders when she first took the throne. The amount of history she’s seen with her own eyes is pretty amazing.
