I used to think the Pokemon was so by the books, and easy to predict who would win. When does Ash need a win, or need a lose to humble himself so he gets motivated to train and win next time. When it is time to come up short. But of late I have been surprised. First of all the last series, Sun and Moon, he actually won the whole god dam tournament. I didn't even think he was going to make it to the finals. I thought he was going to lose to Lily's brother what ever his name was. But shocking upset that he went all the way. But now, see the latest episode. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}I thought like everyone else, it was so obvious he was going to make it to the finals, face Leon and get creamed. But this week's episode, his match against Cynthia, Ash can't shake her, she always a one pokemon advantage. All Ash left is Lurcaro, even he beats one of her pokemon, how does it make sense for him to have enough to beat the second one. I don't see Ash winning this one, and story wise it makes no sense, he has to face Leon. Is it just going to be Cynthia vs Leon, who would also get creamed by Leon. But the viewer have no emotional investment.
But if Ash wins it would be such an ass pull.
In the words of Vince McMahon, Ash Ketchum does not stand a chance in hell. Not a chance in hell. So your thoughts.

Is this going to be the end of Summerslam 2010 only with Ash?

Given the whole season's been building up to Ash getting a rematch with Leon it'd be rather stupid and anticlimactic if he doesn't.
Sidenote I really cannot wait until this franchise gets Leon out of its system after Gen 9 comes out. Dude's been relentlessly pushed for years now and he suuuuucks. His team's weak, Charizard is badly overexposed, his design's a mess, just everything about Leon feels like they're trying so damn hard to make this guy cool and none of it works at all.

I thought the title of the thread was "Will Ash Pull Out?" Perhaps you've been in those rule34 sites too much, har har har. I'm joking here, but as I recall it's a popular tag for those types of sites.

Given how Leon has been depicted in the anime, complete where he recently just ran over Diantha in a match where 80% of it happened offscreen, I'm not hopeful we will get a good match but if Ash wins, it'll be by dumb luck.

Brock's family basically jumped him.

It appears the person rooting Ash on in his final battle in Goh's absence is Dawn.

Wonder which one of Leon's Pokemon will one-shot Ash's Dragonite.

In an absolutely shocking update... {Spoiler}Ash's Dragonite actually won a fight for once in its life, beating Leon's Dragapult.

It'll never happen, but I'd still love to see them let Ash finally win everything and let him timeskip into a mentor role... doesn't even have to be a long timeskip to put him in a professor role, but like, let the G1 characters move on already, geez.
(I think I'm biased because of the two Digimon Adventure sequel films, but seriously.)

I kind of wonder if the anime might just be winding down, between the lack of any confirmation of a Gen 9 season, them not doing a movie in a couple of years, and the apparent production problems with the very frequent clip show episodes. Might just be for the better to bring the show to a close for a bit then maybe explore either a revival or a new show in two or three years.

I remember hearing an announcement about that.
