Oh yeah. 2's good, but I only got to play 1 a bit later, lent from a friend of my sibling, just when I was getting used to RPGs in general. Finished it without getting all characters, and if I get the chance again I wanna complete that. Also, little thing I found out at least a decade later about 2, {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Rowd, the captain that sold you out in 2, apparently did so to get money to help cure his younger sister, which you meet as a faceless NPC in the home town of the main character. In the end, he runs off in the end game but ultimately doesn't cure her.

I kind of just barely know what Suikoden is but neat. Hopefully Konami continues to make more of its old games available going forward.

This plus a few more snippets from Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes just now... It's been an amazing couple of hours!

Not completely surprising given Konami focusing a lot on the Japanese market and knowing such JRPG's will do good numbers on the Switch alone, but no doubt a very pleasant surprise for fans.

Very much welcome. Also, appreciated given, I do like Suikoden 1, but BOY, is it much uglier than 2, going back. A bit of a face lift isn't a bad thing.

This is some of the best news to wake up to. Suikoden is one of my favorite RPG series of all time with 1, 2, and 5 all making it on my list of favorite RPGs.

One of the bigger flaws I feel is that you can't run in 1, unless you have a party member with a rune that lets you do so. Just made the game slower or you give one of your team to give you that.

Yeah, that's a bit annoying, though 1 is kind of short as it is if you know what you're doing, so being able to easily run might just kind of make it feel shorter still.

If I play it again, that might be how I feel about it. Mentioned before playing FF7 on the PS1 I didn't grasp the English language at some things. That, and when compared to 2 that 1 is a bit more clunky, that 1 felt more slow to me. That said, 3 also felt slow, but it was due to having to deal with 3 POVs. Geddou first, Hugo, then Chris. You want one line done, but if you go all the way then you're ending up going back to easier times with the other two. You end up trying to balance and it's just not fun. Post game is just bleh. That said, manga for 3 is good. Great adaptation, much like Breath of Fire IV.

And not even gonna lie. So many words I didn't even understand on RPGs. Strengh, speed, life points... that's probably it. FF7, what even is dexterity? Like Dexter's Lab? ...like that.
Of course, now's different obviously. But gotta say that playing the first time not understanding some basics and then many years later knowing them is part of my enjoyment. Finished 3 knowing the bare basics then doing 2 on an emulator years later knowing AND understanding more is a great experience for me.

I own and have played both extensively already but this is an automatic buy for me. If you havent played these you need to give them a swing. 2 of the best JRPGs of the playstation era

Definitely picking this up for the Switch, I remember renting Suikoden 1 back in the day and having fun with that game.
A lot of the glitches will be fixed of course like the Muse-Matilda border trick from Suikoden 2.

Lately, Konami's been like:"We're really sorry for Metal Gear Survive." I'm looking forward to playing the Suikoden games for the first time in the future after seeing the online praise over the years.

Not completely surprising given Konami focusing a lot on the Japanese market and knowing such JRPG's will do good numbers on the Switch alone, but no doubt a very pleasant surprise for fans. Lately, Konami's been like:"We're really sorry for Metal Gear Survive." I'm looking forward to playing the Suikoden games for the first time in the future after seeing the online praise over the years. The thing about Konami is that for all the memes and reputation of them as the company that only does gambling and pachinko, the current reality is that that's not really accurate. Their biggest profit comes from video games (and not just mobile) and they have been reasonably productive... its just that they're now largely focused on AA releases for the Japanese market. Yu-Gi-Oh games eBaseball, small misc titles like Getsu Fuma Den; they release on Switch, the install base of the system gets them solid numbers and they become self sustaining through that. Heck Momotaro Dentetsu has sold over 3.5 million physical copies, making it the second best selling third party Switch game in Japan behind Monster Hunter Rise. They still have a token interest in the West via collections and the Bomberman games (or the fairly lousy Contra Rogue Corps release), but they've entirely rejected the model of doing big budget releases with North American/European sales in mind. That's also why so many of the big stuff like Metal Gear and Silent Hill is on hiatus because much of the core audience for those is essentially counter to their current strategy. That's not to say that collections, remasters, or even new games aren't coming at some point from them, just that Konami is playing things very conservatively with investment and resources. Anything coming from those IP's is likely going to be designed around lessening as much risk as possible, being very careful with the budget, and maximizing sales the best they can. In that sense, Suikoden is probably the least surprising revival for them to do given the current MO. There's never been a better time to release a JRPG on Switch, and a lot of the market their aiming at is likely more keen on that franchise than MG or SH. Even if the remasters of 1 & 2 bomb in the West (which given popular reception to the announcement they likely won't), the projected sales back home likely are seen as making a release of them worth it (especially after Eiyuden Chronicle demonstrated strong interest).

Two of my favorite RPGs finally getting a remaster? LFG! Please, please, please make recruiting Clive in I less random. And do something about the timegating in his II sidequest so that more people can experience it.
