Whole things is on I-Player now. I'm trying to watch it weekly, but I'm already finding lots of it on twitter Cunk being all confident about the saying "dance as if noone can see you" and getting her heart broken when she learns the person she's quoting didn't actually say it... Pump Up The Jam is hopefully the show's recurring "Brush Strokes" gag.

it's a shame we don't get Cunk here except for random people uploading it to youtube
"Most people have heard of Hamlet, even if they haven't seen it because it sounds quite boring. So what's it about? Well, I have seen it, and it's about four hours long."

I decided against watching it this week as I'm deeply more spiritual than I was ten years ago and didn't find the subject matter appropriate.

The episode on religion was hilarious. I now can’t get the mental image of Spider-Man shitting himself out of my head.

The episode on religion was hilarious. I'm sure it was, it's just I didn't feel comfortable watching it. Loved this week's episode though. Pump Up The Jam 'trivia', and the Beethoven alexa were the best parts.

Living in the UK as I do I have stopped being able to find Cunk funny as she has felt less parodic but I will get banned if I go into any further detail

I felt so bad for Cunk at the end of episode four when she found out the nukes weren't blanks. Anyway, anyone a fan of Abba?
And Sean sounds like a pretty decent bloke, he helped set up her Pac-Man arcade over a weekend, why'd she dump him?

The people she interviews must by now know it’s a spoof, right? I get the impression that some of them know but play along by deadpan replying her questions, but others....seem genuinely bemused and on the back foot.

Well, it's not like she's SUPER well known so I think she can still fly under the radar enough that some people will take it as a serious interview, not actually research her.

Yeah, she’s known but it hasn’t had that crossover into the mainstream like Ali G or Dennis Pennis had, so there’s probably a bit more mileage left in it. With both of those other two examples, once everyone was in on the joke, they were already on borrowed time as joke interviewers (although Ali G went abroad and had his own show, it was never as good as the initial stuff). Then again, we then got Borat which is still baffling to me that people fell for it. The second Borat film especially as the first was such a cultural phenomenon, how did people not know or even type “Borat” into a search engine before agreeing to meet him? The thing that amazes me is how Diane Morgan keeps a straight face when asking this stuff. If the interviewee is not in on the joke, she cannot afford to slip up once or it gives the game away.

Fair points, both. I just think that after four years or so of doing it, someone in the organisations would have heard of her. Still...their lack of knowledge is to our advantage!

I think it was said a while back somewhere the interviewees are entirely aware she's playing a character, they may not be prepared for the questions, but they're not in the dark.

There's a couple of situations that come up to get over that. 1. They just don't care enough to research. 2. Editing. I remember people working for The Daily Show had stories of people they were interviewing knowing about the show, playing along but being told "yeah we can't use that".

Pennis and Cunk. That's some high brow humor you Brits have there.
