variety.com/2022/tv/news/trevor-noah-leaving-daily-show-1235388893/I know TDS has a heavy focus on political commentary, but let's try to keep the politics out of this so we don't get the thread closed. This is a surprise to me, it honestly feels like he just started. I love him on the show but I won't lie, I watch/listen to way way way more Daily Show on YouTube at work the next morning then I ever do on late night Comedy Central.

He was a lot different from Jon and also started immediately during the craziest political period for the USA in decades if not ever.
I stopped watching TDS during his tenure but it wasn't because of him. I thought he was a good host and an even better stand-up comedian (even saw him do stand up in Newark back in 2017). It's more that political humor the last few years provokes my anxiety disorder like crazy.
Wonder who's going to succeed him.

They're renaming it "The Daly Show" & Tim Daly is now hosting but he's delusional and thinks he really is Superman

Good freaking riddance.
Is what I would say if I wasn't sure they were gonna replace him with another unfunny shill.

Such a f***ing far-cry from Stewart. He had moments of profoundness but they were far and few in between. Never came close to Stewart’s humor.

I feel The Daily Show has to be fronted by an American. It's about largely American issues, it was funnier coming from an American.
I think the showrunners chose Noah at attempt to get more international appeal, but we in the rest of Not-America liked John Stewart just fine thanks.

Crazy to think he's hosted that show for almost seven years. Even crazier to think that's still only HALF of Jon Stewart's run. Guess that's why it's always felt like his show; time and impact have left very large shoes to fill.
I've always found Trevor a great comedian (more so than Jon, even), but it always seemed like something was missing. He never felt like America's news anchor the way Jon Stewart did (and, tbh, the way John Oliver does now). His Daily Show always felt more Tonight Show, if that makes any sense.

He want bad, just not on Jon Stewart’s level. It’s like when The Tonight Show went from Letterman to Leno.

They canceled Tosh.0, but kept this unfunny f*** around two more years.

He was usually fine from the snippets I caught of his run, although he has said some things I really don’t agree with (but that would be going beyond the rules here). Uber political talk shows really aren’t my thing to start with, so I probably wouldn’t be the best judge in this case.

I used to be really into that s***, but as I got older I just got more and more annoyed with the whole game that I thought even the people I agreed with needed to STFU.

I never thought the guy was funny so I’m not broken up. Every time I tried to watch a clip from the show, it was like the same bit over and over. He explains the situation, does a voice mocking the opposing side that goes on about 20 seconds too long and then delivers a half hearted punchline

That's a shame. I enjoy him. It took him a while but he got comfortable. He was quite a departure from Jon Stewart but they needed that. Someone too much like John would just be seen as Jon lite.
He's had a good run though. I'm curious to see who they tap next.

They canceled Tosh.0, but kept this unfunny f*** around two more years. Just give Tosh The Daily Show. As far as I can tell, Tosh has pretty much checked out of show business. He has extreme social anxiety and hates public speaking. He got by developing a character to speak through, but he just wants to be left alone.

So holiday break, that is exactly how they transition from Kilborn to Stewart.
