Although most of my friends can't beat Bald Bull (NES)...

NES Super Macho Man's tornado punch would always seem to have one more rotation than I was ready for. My lifetime win percentage isn't high, but I can beat him.

Where is the Gabby Jay option? I thought it was funny that in the instruction manual it says Gabby Jay's only win was against Glass Joe. Oh and to the guy who can't beat Aran Ryan. Counter punch until you get your special, then punch him...while he's dazed do a special punch. Then when he turns back around to hug you hit him with a special body blow. He'll turn around to hug you again...do this until he falls down. Once your timing on it is good, you'll win easily. Oh and his combo always goes body, head, body, head. Just block the head punches and let it block the body shots on its own. |

I own both Tyson's and Super Punchout. I've beaten Super Punchout, but I have never beaten Mike Tyson's Punchout. I can get up to Mike Tyson without losing, but he knocks my ass out every time. Its been twenty years and I still can't get his pattern down.

I will say this. On Super Punch Out, Hoi Quarlow gave me more trouble than anyone else initially. I don't care if he's old, what self respecting boxing promotion lets someone use a staff for chrissakes? But in the end, Punchout = patterns = trial and error = eventual success. The first chance I had to play Super Punch Out was on my PSP, but I swore to never use savestates. Once I hit this guy, I used savestates every time I dodged a move correctly and landed some punches. My problem with him was that if he came from the left with the staff, you dodged to the left to avoid it, a dodge to the right got you nailed with the end of the staff. I had to abandon instinct and reflex. Rick Bruiser is somewhat hard, but not alot after Hoi. And Nick was stupid easy for a final bout. They seriously could have switched them around. I mean, for the first 45 seconds or so you just hit him with three or four punches then dodge. After that, he goes for the instant KO move, and from there its just basic hit and move. |
