To give them credit, before the dancing ritual they had no character and were dead in the water. Did anyone enjoy this version of the Usos?

I enjoyed it for a bit, but like every version of the Usos it became pretty stagnant after awhile.

After this Bloodline story finally runs its course, would be fun for them to bring it back even if just for one night.

It was cool but never quite went anywhere for their characters. When later Uso runs got stale there felt like more meat on the bones of their act than this really had. That said, it was a huge step for them in getting up further to where they got to.

Yes, but I was ready for a change after a while. Like mentioned above, it would be cool if they broke it out again for a one-off.

My memory might be off, but I swear when they and Tamina debuted in one of their promos they say they weren't going to be doing a lot of the classic Samoan wrestling tropes- no facepaint, no dancing etc. I don't know if they ever came right out and said they were embarassed by or rejected their heritage, but I'm positive one of the selling points of their debuting gimmick was they weren't like their ancestors.
As I recall the Usos face turn was them coming out with the paint and doing the Siva Tau as part of their entrance.

It was a great look for them (in an over-the-top wrestling kind of way) with the colourful facepaint and gear, and it coincided with their in-ring work starting to click, so it was really the start of The Usos getting over and becoming one of the cornerstone tag teams of the company.
However, as tends to happen, they didn’t change up their act once they hit the top and, once they started beating teams that were more interesting at the time, they lost the goodwill until mid-2016 when they turned back heel and dropped the colourful kit.

I think it was less that they were embarrassed and more about not wanting to be reduced to a stereotype. I guess on that front, bringing out some of that stuff later was fine since they'd established they weren't a Headshrinkers-type act and weren't being presented as if they were illiterate curiosities plucked out of a human zoo.

I liked it more than most at the time, but they’ve become more assertive characters in their We The Ones gimmick.

I liked it as it felt genuinely authentic and respectable in a way cultural expressions in wrestling tend not to be.

The thread title makes it sound like the Usos had a Dancing with the Stars gimmick, and now I’m sad they didn’t.

Calling it a "dancing gimmick" is kind of a misnomer...
the Siva Tau was a pretty damn good entrance and the half paint was nice.
The fact that even doing the Siva Tau they didn't act like the simple savages like earlier gimmicks would have, helped a lot.
It felt far more like how the Samoan Rugby team does it before matches as a reference to the culture.
they got pretty damned over with it for a long time, but like most things in the WWE they didn't evolve them and they just kinda stagnated so they needed to basically drop the act entirely to move forward.
that said the entire ties to their heritage does still fit the entire Bloodline thing.

I liked it at first like others said here, it gave them something to stand out. It's kind of weird to see it after all these years, TBH. I kind of forgot how long The Uso's have been on the main roster.

Survivor Series isn't that far off
It's just begging for a full Bloodline Siva Tau entrance (I hope including Sami Zayn)

Looking at that video, I'm once again wondering which member of the family yelled at them for doing Ka Mate the first week instead of the Siva Tau

They should have had Tamina tap dancing around them with a top hat and a cane.
