When you take all the salad dressing off it’s two dorks going at one another. No, it's one dork continuing to go after another dork after that dork has long since left the confrontation. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/3RJ0bvf7/91251-C8-E-47-DF-4083-A735-BEF9-CB7-DD701.gif)

As with most bullshit in wrestling, this is a scenario where multiple things are true and no one is entirely without fault.
- Ariel Helwani is a great journalist, but also a complete twat who's too busy smelling his own farts due to his head being up his ass to not notice the irony in saying something subjective is objective ("WWE is better than AEW")
-Tony Khan is a sweetheart of a guy who really does just want the best, I really do believe that, but he is way too papery in disposition to be in this business. Be the money man, be the booker, but make Aubrey or someone handle this shit
- Eric Bischoff had the hot hand in wrestling for like 3 years and suddenly a lot of people act like he's some great wrestling promoter troubleshooter when it's sort of hard to ignore the fact that the billionaire owner of the promotion gave him a Monday night prime time slot and let him get Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, etc. I'm not saying that Bisch's success was all luck, but the guy acts like he hit a home run despite starting on 2nd base.
Honestly, Coach is the only one who's chimed in so far that doesn't seem like a complete child.

He played the old "you have no right to talk about this if you've never stepped in the ring" card that has never made any sense. Dave Meltzer is by far the biggest wrestling journalist and he never wrestled. Helwani has been the top MMA guy for a decade and he never fought. The top reporters in most sports are 95% of the time people who never actually played the game. Even Coach himself, he may have "wrestled" some matches around 2003, but realistically he wasn't a wrestler, so by his own rule he really shouldn't be giving an opinion.

My two cents on all of this:
- Tony Khan is too online. He’s obviously very passionate about what he does, but he should be insulating himself from some of the stuff that he partakes in. He’s also very quick to respond to any perceived slight when it’s often beneath him. You can be proud of your work and what you do without feeling the need to defend it and justify it at every turn.
- All the Ariel stuff kicked off with asking Tony about Brawl Out and not getting anything from him. It’s a question that he was obviously going to ask and it was one that he wasn’t going to get an answer he liked because Tony had made it clear that he wasn’t going to get into it. I can sympathize with Helwani’s frustration, but it shouldn’t have come as a surprise.
- Nick Khan is Ariel’s former agent and Ariel does work with both BT Sport and The Ringer, two outlets that have deals with WWE. If Ariel wants to do work with WWE, then go for it. But if he’s gonna do that, then he can’t throw his hands up and say “I’m not a journalist when I do wrestling” because he has reported news. He reported the Saudi deal wasn’t done. He reported Cody was talking to WWE. He cited his own sources here. It was original reporting. Hell, the original TK interview was under the guise of journalism. So you can’t have it both ways here. You’re either a journalist or you aren’t.
- This is all really stupid.

I have no idea who Louis Dangoor is, so who's worse? Him or Brad Shepard? Shepard. Who outwardly lies, and harasses people as well as encourages others to do that. Louis is just a doofus

Louis is just a doofus I men I'd put Dangoor in the liar column, just not to as insane or as melted a level. He peddles a lot of obvious mistruth and half-baked nonsense, he's just smart enough to not have it be anything seriously heavy enough to catch him any heat. But it is mostly just rank clickbait shit and peddling wrestlers' podcast quotes as some kind of actual news instead of carny shitstirring.

Think it's more weird, again, that this is finally the point WWE start taking shots at TK? Really?
It's like if the first time WCW took shots at the WWF was after Vince did the AOL chat. Like, in the list of Top 50 opportunities, this would be 501.

You may think it's petty, makes them seem worse or whatever and that's fine... they obviously don't. I'm not sure anyone's opinion on Tony Khan, Ariel Helwani or the WWE as an entity is being significantly altered by any of this.

After HHH made his comment to Billy on air it seemed for a long stretch it was only AEW taking on air shots at WWE. Makes things more interesting with WWE finally taking on air shots back ( if you call it taking a shot, pretty harmless honestly ). Makes me look forward to Max's next rap now. 😂

Posted similar in the Osmos/Brock thread but I fear WWE going from being Don Draper in the elevator "I don't think about you at all" re AEW to now Cole taking (albeit minor) shots on commentary as a sign of Vince's influence and power re-emerging.
Helwani sounds like an attention whore who is angling for an on-screen WWE gig and will inevitably feck it up by pissing off the wrong people. An upmarket Bubba the Love Sponge if you will.
TK is TK he is thin-skinned and drunk tweets too much and is probably never going to change. Just got to appreciate that the good outweighs the bad (especially by the low standards of promoters).

Yeah, it definitely sounds like McMahon poison leaking back into WWE.

I dont think it has anything to do with Vince. It's WWE (HHHunter in this case, or maybe Bruce - someone actually in Cole's ear) seeing a chance to poke some fun, and maybe have TK blow up again and look silly, or probably more importantly, unprofessional.
When Vince or HHHunter or Steph did something on air that was dumb, it was always 'well, that is just the character I play on TV' so they got shielded in the board room and with execs from other companies at deal time. Tony isnt an on air character, he doesnt have that cover, so when he does stupid shit - provoked or not - he just potentially looks personally unprofessional.
That seems like something WWE might want, whoever is really in charge - especially given HHHunter wants to lure talent in. Making Tony look unstable could help with that, as well as potentially hurt AEW at media rights time.
OR
This really was just tongue in cheek fun and no dark, ulterior motives.
Who knows, just fun to speculate.
