I was listening to 96.9, one of the Massachusetts hip hop stations this morning. They had a game where you had to guess why this woman was crying in a viral clip. It was the one where a woman put in a joke bid for $100,000 for a couch and it was accepted.
Anyway, someone won and they offered her tickets to tonight’s WWE Smackdown. She turned them down saying she had to help out her mom. The host then tried to pressure the winner into taking the tickets by name dropping Roman Reigns, Logan Paul, and Kofi Kingston. Kingston was mentioned because he started in the MA indie scene, has local roots, and is doing some signings.
The woman rejected the tickets again saying she lived an hour away.
This probably happens all the time, but I just found it kind of funny. I know sometimes the stations just offer the cash equivalent to the winner, but right now they’re still trying to give away the tickets.

Was what the prize was mentioned beforehand? Even if I wanted the tickets if they tried to give them to me on a Friday morning where I would then have to fight traffic into the city that night I’d probably turn them down too.

Haha wow. I've heard a lot of people answer wrong and lose that way over the years, can't remember outright rejecting a prize on air.

Was what the prize was mentioned beforehand? Even if I wanted the tickets if they tried to give them to me on a Friday morning where I would then have to fight traffic into the city that night I’d probably turn them down too. I wasn’t listening too closely beforehand so can’t say for sure. If you weren’t interested in seeing Smackdown beforehand I’d imagine it could be very inconvenient. The show isn’t even in Boston, our biggest city. It’s in Worcester which has less than a third of the population and less populated suburbs. |

I live on the north shore and hate when a concert/event is happening in Worcester. Such a pain in the ass. I'd probably still take the tickets, I'd just get there late (or give them to a friend) |

Did she know the contest was for Smackdown tickets before the phone-in? If I wasn't a wrestling fan I wouldn't want the tickets either.
