A bunch of the removed shows are being brought back to iTunes and Youtube including Mao Mao, Mighty Magiswords and Infinity Train.

"Dead" seems like an overreaction. It's too big a player in children's programming to just disappear. Worst case scenario is that it's just never gonna air any original programming again. Quite honestly with the library of classic cartoons and now ended original series it has, it probably doesn't need to.

I guess I'm not really seeing it as a whole lot much other than things consolidating at a corporate level, because even when everything was still Turner it still felt very WB-adjacent, since WB was basically splitting their Looney Tunes output between CN and Nick at that point. And before that it was TBS and TNT with the cartoon blocks.
I do agree about how it seems like collectively, creators looking to go forward with new IPs are kind of at square one since Netflix seems keen on ditching original animation, HBOMax is in who knows what kind of a status with this train wreck of a merger, and Disney almost certainly would want 100% rights and ownership of your IP. Only one I'm not sure about what they're up to is Hulu, but that's maybe what, one animation-friendly major platform?

The first few years of Cartoon Network was amazing- I got to see so many old cartoons that I'd never seen before.

For some reason, I never got into Cartoon Network as a kid. Nickelodeon always seemed to hit better. Probably because they offered more than cartoons? I don't remember Cartoon Network having any unique programming prior to Space Ghost. I'm sure they probably did, but I never watched it as a kid because it was mostly Hanna Barbera cartoons that I absolutely hated. Then all the sudden they had Dexter's Laboratory, Cow and Chicken, The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest and so forth...and it became the thing to watch. Adult Swim was fun at first, but I really began to despise it after a few years, Aqua Teen Hunger Force in particular really dropped in quality, to the point where it felt like they were daring their audience to watch. What's ironic is shows like Dexter's Laboratory aged so much better than Aqua Teen.

At worse, the Cartoon Network channel might be rebranded and have a new name, but not case to exist.

It stopped being the best place for cartoons ages ago. Like I said before they flourished in the 2010's after how iffy things got from like 2005-2010 with the live action stuff and no real star cartoon to rely on I want to say around 2017 once Regular Show was ending and they stopped paying as much attention to Adventure Time is when things started to turn. TTG while easy to pick on is cheaper and holds the attention and you can tell they wanted more stuff like that

Disney was basically a teen channel with their shows for a hot min as far as live action goes Nick had stuff like All That, Kennan and Kel, Clarissa Knows It All, Guts, Legends of the Hidden Temple etc on top of cartoons they could really rely on. Damn near the equivalent of WCW/WWF in the 90s when I was switching back and forth between shows and knowing the times I wanted to watch something

I'm surprised by the Americans on here commenting about CN falling off recently,
The UK version fell off in 2006 when they decided to start putting live action shows on the Toonami channel, and then rebrandwd it to the name previously used for the toddler channel.
By live action shows, I mean Parker Lewis Can't Lose. In 2006.

More so the ideas behind it as far as them being their own thing They basically at the mercy of WB so it is more so having to assume that identity which I think is the bigger point The merger's bad, the worst media merger ever, and Zaslav will be remembered in infamy for it I only hope if/when they're sold again they undo this. It's dumb and it's got so many peeps paranoid. I believe that crown still sits upon the head of AOL Time Warner. Pretty hard to top that failure

I thought it was already was part of warmer bros. I always associated all those tbs/tnt and other turner channels with Warner bros anyway considering all the dc content that was either on Cartoon Network or kids wb
Though now that I think of it, I don’t ever remember seeing animaniacs or tiny toons reruns on there

WB Discovery is now merging CN's animation studio with WB's animation studio, feeling that having them operate separately is unnecessary.

I don't believe Tiny Toon's ever aired on the channel.
