I mean, don’t Rey and Dom still live together with the rest of the family? How is moving to Smackdown avoiding him in everyday life out of WWE Rhea keeps Dom in a cage at her house “My water dish is empty!”

The build to the match is kickstarted when Dominik eliminates Rey in the Royal Rumble.

Hiding on Smackdown is pretty useless because from what I've seen everybody just ignores the brand split anyway. There's nothing stopping Judgement Day from showing up. The brand split is not as bad as it was in the Raw SuperShow days in like 2012 where they flat out put Smackdown in Raw's logo and even midcarders like Heath Slater were on both shows. But it does feel like we are a couple of Alpha Academy appearances on Smackdown from reaching that territory.

I'd watch the sitcom 'Everyone hates Rey-mond'

This whole thing is a weird story.
Edge starts a cult because he feels he's not respected enough.
The cult makes several attempts to indoctrinate Finn, which they are eventually successful at.
The cult turns on Edge him because they think he's old and useless.
The cult then goes after Rey, because they think he's also old and useless.
The cult makes several attempts to indoctrinate Rey's son, Dominik, which they are eventually successful at.
Rey abandons any attempt to free his son in exchange for a championship match. Because Rey would rather die at Gunther's hands than discipline Dominik.
At the same time, the cult makes several attempts to indoctrinate AJ Styles. This fails, as AJ already leads his own cult.
