I am thinking about this due to Halloween Ends. What fights were hyped in trailers and such, yet ended up being very small by comparison?
You can go to the HE thread for more on my picks. Basically I started with, well, anything from Spider-Man 3 (esp. Spidey vs. Venom, Spidey vs. Harry) and Batman vs. Phantasm.

Clegane-Bowl happened when Ser Gregor had been reduced to a mindless zombie who didn't give a f*** about anything so his final death was if no consequence. It also happened in the middle of the series's main hero suddenly becoming evil with no buildup and committing a bunch of war crimes so nobody noticed or cared much.

Maybe just me but Freddy vs. Jason underwhelmed. The movie was 80% them teaming up, then when they do fight the outcome is fixed by teenagers. And of course the ending that goes "Psyche! Neither won! 50/50 booking bitch".

Fight at the end of Only God Forgives between Ryan Gosling and Vithaya Pansringarm.
Remember the early reviews saying it was a fight for the ages, better than anything in Drive, then it turns out to be a pretty one sided ass whupping with very little screen time.

Speaking of Game of Thrones Season 8, the Long Night ended up pretty shabby. Imagined about for the entire run of the series, only to be too dark to see anything half the time, idiotic tactics by the protagonists, the supernatural seer being utterly useless, and even the major threat killed by random choice of a character for no real story even or thematic meaning. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Theon's last stand is genuinely great scene but even that I'd cite to Alfie Allen being a far better actor than the material really deserved. |

Facing General Tullius or Ulfric Stormcloak depending on your side in the Civil War of Skyrim. Ulfric is even worse, since he's supposed to be a master of the Thu'um, but he's not even technically wearing armor.

Sin is the big whale thing, Yu Yevon was Yunalesca’s dad and overtime inside Sin he morphed into this weird ass bug. And the bug can’t beat you, the real final boss is the giant Jecht before that. IMO, that should have been the final battle, afterwards it’s just a dog sized beetle and it’s anticlimactic. |
