I figure rather than let stuff get lost in the HBO Max, WBD, and Snyder threads, better to put general DCEU news in its own thread going forward.

"Okay, who should we get?"
"I don't know! Let's keep going though!"

Seriously, give the helm of DC to Gunn and Rock. Just back up a truck of money to them. They're both very passionate and have a lot of buzz at the moment.

I'm here for another Man of Steel. I've mellowed on that movie a bit as the years have gone by and although I'm still not overly keen on the last 30 minutes or so, I want to see more of Cavill's Superman. He was seriously underused in BvS and JL, IMO, so I'm happy to see him get another go.
It'd be about right for Batman's rogues to get movies of their own before any of the Batkids get on the big screen though (I'm not counting Batman & Robin and neither should you)

Cavill himself admitted in 2019 that although he wouldn't change anything about MOS, the stories he was really keen to tell after that were pushed aside in favour of BVS and JL.

Goddammit, DC, didn't you learn from literally every other time you made an announcement without having a plan in place?

Goddammit, DC, didn't you learn from literally every other time you made an announcement without having a plan in place? I feel like this is partially all of our faults, tbh. It was never an announcement from DC, just a report in a respected trade paper, and even the wording from THR was about them having a "desire" for the movie. That's usually only a word reserved for something you want but don't have yet. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}If the story is true that Cavill's BA cameo was added quite late and only filmed in mid-September, then it might just be a case of them not having had enough time to thrash out the contract details. I don't imagine that happens overnight. I'd still say it's a sign that MOS2 is as likely to happen as anything else DC/WB is doing right now (as absolutely nothing is certain.) Without a script or even writers attached it's still a good year or so away from filming happening and if Cavill really is filming two seasons of the Witcher back to back next year he probably doesn't have the time anyway.

Nice. Get someone who can direct and write for how the character is meant to be, and we're on to something. (the rest I'll leave inside a certain LOOOONG thread here)

What a wild ride for Gunn.
1) Gets fired from Marvel due to a particularly popular asshat with an axe to grind makes a mountain out of a molehill by digging up old tweets that Gunn had previously already disavowed.
2) Makes one of the best films DC has put out in the DCEU.
3) Gets hired back at Marvel, and gets a spin-off show for one of the breakout characters from his DC film.
4) Spin-off show is a hit with critics and viewers(though gets mostly looked over come award season)
5) Gets hired to co-run all of DC’s visual media division.
The dude just keeps winning.

Gunn was pretty much done with Marvel with GOTG Vol 3, so as disappointed as I am that he won't be involved on that side... I'm excited to see him have a positive effect on the DC side.

Also it just hit me that this is probably why Gunn was so surefire confident that Peacemaker season 2 was safe when Zaslav started his tax write off spree on HBO Max content.
