I don't see any chance Snyder gets another chance at Superman. At best Gunn can probably get away with throwing him a bone of a lower priority hero with a smaller budget... but After the constant critical and box office failures of like all of his DC output I don't see Zaslav (or any WB exec) okaying his return in a major way.

The co-CEO of DC Studios will spend the next several months promoting a Marvel Studios movie. That's something I never imagined happening. I guarantee you Feige advised him to take the job. Hell, Feige's probably already drafting up ideas for Avengers vs. Justice League. Like the creative teams on both sides have stated multiple times high tides raise all ships. It benefits everyone when people put out good movies. On the comics sides Writers and Artists have been trying to get Marvel/DC 3 going for years... it's Disney and WB execs that put the Kibosh on it.

Cavill's response to Snyder's message felt like one of those awkward moments when somebody invites themselves to a party and nobody has the heart to tell them no, particularly coming hot on the heels of him talking about how he's looking forward to playing an "enormously joyful" Superman. The best I can see Snyder getting is an animated adaptation of his planned Justice League trilogy.

If DC ever get the rights to Mr. A, they can bring Snyder in to work on that.

Feels like this is beyond Gunn's powers, but any chance they get back to all the shelved projects like new gods & everything else that was destroyed by the cost cutters at the top?

I cautiously optimistic with the future of the DCU. Cavil coming back as Superman, Affleck seeming to be interested in more Batman appearances and the studio possibly getting rid of Ezra Miller are all good signs. Depending on how things go with Aquaman 2, I’ll be more confident with things going forward. I still think Mamoa would’ve been a better Lobo, though. He pretty much just plays Aquaman as if he’s him, abyway.
The cancelation of Batgirl was a great move by the studio. There was no need for a Batgirl film, considering the studio can’t decide who their Batman is, and Leslie Grace wasn’t a great choice for the role. Hopefully, JK Simmons and Brendan Fraser get to come back as Commissioner Gordon and Firefly when things are set.
I read the Constantine show/movie they had in the works got cancelled, which is another good sign as I wasn’t a fan of the casting for Constantine. There are rumors of Keanu Reeves coming back, which I’m hoping isn’t true as he was also an awful choice for the role. The look of Constantine is important to his character, and that needs to be captured.
It might not have been DCU related, but the Green Lantern show getting cancelled is also good. The premise and casting didn’t give me much hope, but seeing Guy Gardner would’ve been awesome. Although, it seemed they wanted to turn him into a caricature of eveything the producers hate about masculinity. The new focus seems to be on John Stewart. Hope that means Hal Jordan will be saved for a movie.

A New Gods movie could be cool, but keep Ava DuVernay away from it. She proved with A Wrinkle in Time that big budget epics aren’t her thing, and the director of a New Gods movie will need to be able to handle something big. If not, you’ll just get a repeat of The Eternals. In fact, The Eternals is probably close to what New Gods would’ve been if DuVernay made the movie.

My response (which no one cares about) is similar… just give me good movies, whether it’s Marvel or DC.

One thing I really want to see how of this new regime: a POWER GIRL movie or TV show. I know we've already got several flavors of Supergirl already between the Arrowverse and her appearance in the Flash movie. But Karen Starr is a lot different character from Kara Danvers. Something roughly based on the Jimmy Palmiotti/Amanda Conner run of the character could be a ton of fun. Not the exact storylines so much as the general feel and tone of the show and character go. Could see her showing up in a Justice Society based film considering they've started integrating them. I really wish they saved the Justice Society for an Earth 2 movie of television show. This might be a hot take, but I loved the New 52 run of Earth 2. Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman giving way to Jay Garrick, Alan Scott, Hawkgirl and Doctor Fare was a fun way to introduce new versions of old characters. Val Zod and Thomas Wayne coming in as Superman and Batman wasn’t needed, as Power Girl and Huntress filled the roles left by the originals.

Unironically love that movie. He might not have been comic accurate but thought he still had that absolute bastard of an attitude.

Can't wait to see what James Gunn does with an Owl Woman movie.

Cavill's really trying to drive home the point that he doesn't want any more Snyder in his Superman.

Yeah, it's only the crazed die hards that seem to care if it's Marvel or DC... (well or the big wig execs at Disney and WB)

If they do a Man of Steel sequel they should look at adapting the story from the Superman '78 comic that was put out last year. Had good take on Brainiac and the "bottled city" trope.

My biggest issue with Braniac in any kind of MAn of Steel sequel is... we already had a Braniac invasion story basically complete with Skull ships... only for some f***ing reason Zod was piloting them. Ditto with Metallo only instead of being Metallo it was Doomsday for some reason.

When Sofia Vergara first started becoming popular I had an idea for a Superman movie with her as La Encantadora as the main villain. Unfortunately I think she's a bit too old for the part now.

(well or the big wig execs at Disney and WB) Probably because for a lot of the creatives involved, they've done work for both companies. So only the people who have exclusive involvement in the companies (so fanboys and unfortunately for the rest of us, the suits) really care about that silly "rivalry."

And the threat of Justice League is virtually identical to the one from Man of Steel (alien warlord comes to Earth to remake it in his own image while also looking for a more important McGuffin) but in the '78 comic Brainiac's motivations aren't about conquest or even trying to learn something. He's more well intentioned than anything, even if he's vastly overstepping his bounds.
