I'm tired of JR being there weekly, I can't lie about that. But I also just can't bring myself to tell the guy to go away, especially if he wants to keep contributing in some fashion. Bring him out on PPV's for the big matches, and then keep him around to do the sit-down segments. JR knows how to softball those for guys to get over better than anyone I've ever seen.

I hope he gets assigned to a backstage role if he still wishes to be around.
I don't think there's a need to have him in the booth, and have found the new trio of Taz, Ex & Tony infinitely better to any duo/trio he's been involved with.

I'm fine with JR having a backstage role or doing those sit down interviews, just don't put him on commentary anymore.

It's fascinating how close it is to the best-era of WCW commentary, really. Tony Schiavone is being.. Tony Schiavone. Taz is sort of taking the Bobby Heenan role (I say sort of because no one can be Bobby Heenan, and Taz is his own thing) Excalibur is "know-it-all" Mike Tenay, in that he knows every move name out there.

It must be tough for someone like him at that age. His whole life has been devoted to this business so you're going to want to keep going, especially when your kids are grown and your wife has passed away. But the travel must get harder as he gets older and announcing is not as easy as it used to be for him. Hopefully he can remain on the payroll in some form and become more of a consultant that can come when he wants but can work remote too.

I do think JR still has a purpose in wrestling, but weekly commentator is quickly not becoming it
Big match commentator, sit down interviewer, backstage role, I don't think JR has to leave wrestling at all, he just can, and should probably, scale back

I'm fine with JR having a backstage role or doing those sit down interviews, just don't put him on commentary anymore. I think you can justify having him come on for the occasional match - there'll be a few guys who would likely request him, like Jericho and Cage. I still think he's excellent at those sit down interviews though, the kayfabe is real.

I still enjoy his commentary on the whole and there’s an obvious nostalgia draw to him, so if he wants to keep going, be it full time or part time, I’m all for it.

Put him on the hot dog vendor and have him slather them in his BBQ sauce for all I care (JK), just keep him off the commentary booth.

Pretty sure he teases this every year At his age, and with his health, he probably means it every year, too.

I'm not a JR detractor, but I think it'd be fine to have Tony Schiavone in the "legend" role at the announce table and let other commentators move up.

Bring him in for occasional big matches where he can lend a lot of gravitas and have him do sit down interview segments.

Put him on the hot dog vendor and have him slather them in his BBQ sauce for all I care (JK), just keep him off the commentary booth. It would be cool for him to do a BBQ thing at arenas like a few retired ball players do BBQ like Boog Powell, Manny Sanguillen and Greg Luzinski at ball parks. I'm not sure JR is really personable enough to deal with the large amount of fans he would have to chat with. Those BBQs are pretty much built on "come to see the player, stay for the food" with them being personable. I do often wonder if JR would be tired or grump all these years later if he hadn't had the bells palsy attacks. It obviously paralyzed his face and makes him come off as grumpy compared to the pre BP Jim Ross where he was often so excited and had a high pitched voice.
