No, but bracketing the superheroics of the action sequences and the appearance of the characters themselves, this special looks no different than a Lifetime Christmas movie, which, to me, isn't a watermark of visual quality. YMMV. See, and maybe it was the weed and alcohol talking, but I got the vibe that this was very intentionally shot to look like a cheap Movie of the Week. Definitely felt that way to me Like Gunn said from the start... and the title and trailer pretty much spell it out... that it was 100% meant to basically be like the Star Wars Holiday special which was a cheap movie of the week...

James Gunn went to Hasbro to get permission to use CyKill .. Did not ask for any of the Transformers which he could have since Hasbro own them too, he wanted a Gobot specifically. 😂 Yeah, someone actually asked if he wanted to get ROM originally since ROM was also a Hasbro property and tied to Marvel... and James Gunn responded no he specifically wanted Gobots cause it's funnier.

Gobots definitely turned up the funny here. It wouldn't have worked nearly as well with transformers or Rom. Edited because my phone changed Gobots to go outside.

I loved it! Batista is just so f'ing good as Drax. Mantis/Quill was such a great moment. I was dying laughing at Drax when he got his present. Rocket's reaction to his present was priceless. I was hoping for another Howard the Duck cameo, but alas. So much fun and I was wanting more at the end. I'm looking forward to what Gunn is going to do with DC, but I will miss him with Marvel!

My son has asked to rewatch this everyday since Friday.... It’s the best Christmas-related thing I’ve watched since Krampus.

Nebula's little moments almost stole it for me. Immediately drawing her gun on Kevin Bacon for calling Rocket a raccoon, "You can't outrun me, Bacon!", and her passive-aggressive dancing were great little moments. Mantis wall-leaping inside Bacon's home was both hilarious and terrifying.

Might watch it again tonight haha

Wasn't bad. I liked it. I think I'm done with the MCU after GotG 3 though.

As funny as Gunn saying it’s canon that Nebula stole Bucky’s arm right off of him…I think the solution is even easier than that. I seriously doubt Shuri gave Bucky his old Winter Soldier arm back when she could have easily improved it when he got it back. Shuri had it sitting around and Nebula bartered with some sweet alien tech for the old arm.

After all in Falcon and the Winter Soldier they knew exactly how to disconnect it from him with minimal effort. That may just be them being badass but I think they reference it being made in Wakanda. So your idea makes a lot of sense.

His Hydra-made arm was vaporised by Tony's chest beam, so making a new one from scratch was the only option.

Quill was able to get batteries made for his walkman as well as a cassette deck made for his ship. It would be easy for them to make an arm that looks authentic. Doesnt even have to be functional.
