Because I’m still waiting on Halloween cards my dad sent the kids over a week ago…and a package I dropped off at the post office on the 13th wasn’t scanned until the 26th causing issues with the scum bag company it was going back to. A friend is also waiting on a package he ordered 3 weeks ago to arrive.
I mean sure…we’re all getting 100 political ads in the mail right now (considering what time of year it is of course…and that’s probably the cause of the issue at hand) but this is getting ridiculous.

Sadly, it’s going to take some time to straighten out the USPS. The guy currently in charge of it owns stocks in competitors to USPS and have gutted the service, makings his shares more valuable. Sadly, replacing him is a drawn out process. Sorry that things suck as a result.

It was pretty shoddy before this (my son had a package of Scholastic books arrive in Orlando and go missing in the depths of post office hell) but it’s extra bad this month. I’m going to chalk it up to the 10 political ads I receive daily and assume it’ll be a little better after November 8th.

Yeah, I've had days where there's 10 pieces of mail, and 8 of them are political ads. Especially since I live in a battleground state where there is more incentive than anywhere for all this spam.
But USPS has been trash for longer than just the midterm elections.

It's been shaky for awhile. I know I sent off something to get autographed and I requested the company to let me know when they receive it, and haven't heard anything in the past week. I just hope it arrives in time. Ugh.

I am in the midst of a battle over filing for disability to cover a medical emergency I had in September. I’m resigned to not getting it, the firms are coming in very piecemeal.

I have had nothing but decent service lately. Packages coming in very timely. One was sent 2 day from NY and arrived here in LA the next day. And when I had to go to the branch to send some myself service was fast and efficient. One afternoon I had a wait but only because of customer volume, every station had an employee working.

I ship things a few times a week and I’m scared to say it’s about as it ever is here.
Of course Christmas season is right around the corner. I go to the main USPS office in my city. I’d prefer to go to one of their smaller offices because the lines are MUCH shorter there. However, the smaller offices are too far out of the way from where I live and work to make sense currently.
During the Christmas season it can take an hour+ to get through the line. The way I get around it is going there between my work shifts right when the office opens up. Usually there are people even then but sometimes I’m alone and plenty of times I get there first.

Delivery to my home is decent. Oddly since 2019ish if a package is coming to me and goes thru Memphis it will sit there at least 2 days, one time a package was tehre for 28 days.
Post office in town is hit and miss. They only have two windows and it is usually packed. Got a regional office near me but their hours are like 3 hours each day. Never a line there.

I've been using them a lot for my eBay sales and they've been pretty reliable and surprisingly fast for the stuff I send out. The bigger problem for me is the Post Offices themselves with long lines and poor service.

I believe Bob Schlapowitz is in the most unique position to answer this as he works for the postal service

At first I thought you were asking about UPS. UPS has always been trash. I'm north of the border though, so I don't know about USPS.

Fed Ex has that problem for me. They have a stop in Southaven, south of Memphis, and a package can get there and not leave for a week.

The USPS in my area (a very rural area) has always been awful. Everything takes forever to get here and things are frequently lost in the mail. Our local postal service is also seemingly comprised of idiots. For example, I had a record delivered and they FOLDED IT AND CRAMMED IT IN THE MAILBOX. Luckily it was something cheap off of discogs, but still, common sense should tell you not to do that.
UPS also seems bad around here. We have Prime and it usually takes around a week for us to get anything we order from Amazon. Not sure if this is the case with everyone or if we're just that unlucky.

But yeah, USPS hasn't been great lately, but a lot of people out in the boonies are boned if it goes away entirely. FedEx, UPS, etc. just don't have the infrastructure to service a lot of rural areas the way the postal system does.

Talked to a buddy that works for FedEx and was told "No clue pimp. That place is messed up. Like how Memphis is. Southhaven is just South Memphis Pimp"
