It is kind of sad that the tag division always has to default to New Day vs. Usos. Yeah, it will be a great match I'm sure, but it would nice to get another team to their level at some point.

I mean it doesn't have to... but what happens with these overly long title reigns (especially in WWE) is that one team basically destroys all of the contenders... which kinda destroys any attempts to build the division.

This is one case where I'm down for New Day involvement. It makes sense that they want to preserve their historic reign. That said, I could see the Usos breaking the record because bloodline.
What might be a nice twist if they have time is New Day becoming obsessed with keeping their record. They fail to stop the usos so they start interfering on others behalf, anything to get the belts off the usos and preserve their record. Maybe get it close enough that the usos are gloating that they have no scheduled defences before the record breaks. The New Day can then trick Sami into accidentally agreeing to put the titles on the line that night against say the brutes. The usos lose the title due to New Day shenanigans. That gives the seed for the split with Sami, preserves the New Day record and moves the title to a hot team.

If they defend Friday and win, that should be it. That's what creates tension for the match.

This particular match it makes sense. The Usos will break the New Day’s record if they win this Friday so there’s a built-in story and it makes for what should be a great, dramatic match. And if they add the wrinkle of Sami Uso having to substitute for an injured Jey, even better.

Roman should tell Jey that he’s sitting that match out and Sami is taking his place. I think that would be a cool way to keep alienating Jey from the rest of the group.
As for Sami - I don’t actually see him teaming with KO being as inevitable as others do (at least as part of this storyline) To me that kills his momentum by going back to any involvement with KO. What they need to do is build him toward being the one to dethrone Roman somehow.

UPDATE: I love this idea too - Sami after the win. "to think that jimmy and myself as part of the bloodline are now the longest reigning tag team champs in wwe history!" (the veins in jey's head explode in fury)

Here’s what you do:
You have Sami fill in for Jey and he and Jimmy go on an absolute tear.
Jey gets jealous, rushes back early before his wrist is healed, insists he’s good to go and replaces Sami.
Then a still injured Jey ends up costing them the titles thanks to his pride and jealousy.

All Bloodline all the time. No one else will ever win anything.
