The privating likes sucks and reeks of Elon being a sensitive bitch compiled with this new Apple arc.
I always foud cool shit and art in likes on peoples profiles, and now that's gone
This site never has a productive update anymore, it won't unless Elon gets bored and gets rid of it.

He IS FORCING AUTOBLOCKS ON ALL OF THE APPLE ACCOUNTS. If you check for Apple or Apple TV it will say you've blocked them. THE LEVEL OF MICROPENIS IS OFF THE CHARTS For me it doesn't say I blocked them but all of Apple's tweets are now deleted. This is Vince levels of pettiness.

Likes on Facebook introduced me to so many cool art and literature groups, the only reasons I still have Facebook. This is going to hurt organic growth to some degree, not that it means much anymore when the man himself can force blocks and other interactions. EDIT TO ADD: Wasn't he going to nix block or ignore functions at some point, for reasons?

![](https://images2.imgbox.com/48/f7/15F5vaLx_o.png) I don't really care what Elon tries, I'm never wasting my time with the "For You" tab. I want to see the people and things I follow on my timeline in a linear fashion, not just a jumble of whatever they decide to show me.

I think likes being private is better. I hate Elon, and I hate this motives for doing it. But I really shouldnt have to worry about creeps trolling my likes for inoffensive things to cancel me for. Thats happened to be people who deserved it but its created a toxic culture. And quite frankly I don't like that likes influence people's FYP either. I especially dont love that i cant like NSFW without worrying about my minor followers lol. I think they should have been private from the beginning.
Plus hey as a leftist its an opsec thing as well.

of course, likes are still visible if you type "/likes" after the URL for a user.

The Apple accounts have yellow ticks so they're more than likely paying a good amount of money for those accounts. I'm sure there's something deep within the App Store T&C about taking money and not providing services that will give Apple a completely ironclad and legal reason to pull the Twitter app. And doing it for that specific reason would be much funnier than just pulling it because they can. FAFO, Musk.

FAFO, Musk. if apple are paying money for their accounts and have not broken any of twitter's terms and conditions and musk has still wiped their accounts clean then there is going to be one hell of a lawsuit coming musk/twitter's way and I hope that apple don't back down and take him to the cleaners over it.

That and it's really easy to accidentally like something on Twitter, Instagram, etc. without even realizing it at the time. Especially fat fingering it on the phone. Likes don't even need to be necessarily be for approval or agreement, but just to keep track of certain posts.

I at least think the likes thing should be toggleable Let users actually decide if they want likes visible Y'know, FREE SPEECH and all that ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

On the other side of that, because the actual like counts are still public, people can push absolute garbage up the algorithm without taking any damage to their own reputation. It's like Elon goes out of his way to make Twitter more toxic with each update.

The lack of public likes I guess will hurt some people who make money off of celebrity likes.
Short of retweeting or replying directly, celebrity likes definitely helped other content providers on the site.

So some people are protesting the likes being private now by replying to tweets they would've liked with "LIKE" ... I'm sure Elon will be thrilled by this development
