Gotta say, watching the jabronis who worshipped this prick turn on him has been really funny. Honestly, even funnier is watching the dumbasses who have convinced themselves that Musk is a maverick genius playing 4D chess and trying to proclaim the rest of us aren't smart enough to understand what he's doing.

Watch people conspiracy theory that they're killing it before he let... someone back. Coinciding with that someone announcing something recently. And hearing debate from that leads to my anxiety going up. I'm mixed about this. On one hand it would save me time and anxiety. A lot of the negativity is there, moreso than FB and Insta. Though I saw some of my personal worst bullying incidents on those instead. Also, people I know are more active on FB/IG. And honestly you can do more on the other forums. I know there's celebrities there, but seldom do they tweet back. And yet...I met a lot of people there and don't know if they are on other socials. There have been times that I've been liked by other celebs I like, even heard from them. I do most of my chatting about Ghosts (CBS and BBC) there, without worrying about debate as to which is better. And the cast reaches out to their fans there. People post some cool old school ads and wrestling clips there. Such is when you see things on both sides. You know, there's a no politics rule, among other things. Trying to skirt it by being vague is more or less the same. Like in general, just seeing a post when someone says "not to be X" or trying to hint at something not allowed here is tiring.

Fine. Changing post as we speak. I'm not the first or only who's been vague about such things here, but sure. I shouldn't let those feelings leak out no matter my anxieties. I should focus on how the issue at hand makes me feel, which I hope to get feedback on.

i will miss twitter, I had a lot of fun interactions on there over the years, both with friends and with the celebrities I adored growing up. i used to do watchalongs with old music TV shows on there and i'd get replies from the musicians in question who were watching the same show at the same time, joking about their outfits or the quality of the songs, little things that would make me a fan, members of Marillion, the lead singer of Doctor and the Medics for example, have a fantastic twitter game and i will 100% miss things like that now I've headed to Mastodon. The system of little islands of activity make it so much harder for that sort of global community to happen without jumping through hoops that make it too much of a headache to ever be a true replacement.
I wish Twitter management, both former and current hadn't gone down the routes they've taken, but now we're seeing the end result of what happens when you value negative engagement rather than genuine social interactions. and let lunatics take over the asylum.

Anyone remember when Elon was just “that SpaceX guy,” and we didn’t know what a useless f***stick he was?

Free Speech, I do no think that means what Elon Musk thinks it means.

Free Speech, I do no think that means what Elon Musk thinks it means. 99% of people who constantly bring up free speech have no idea what it means.

Funnily enough just got a 12 hour suspension from there at 4 am for suggesting one of the engineers Musky fired live via tweet should punch him in the face. Interesting how Mr free speech absolutist is cool w all manner of racism on his platform but if you say someone should ktfo Musky it's out of bound. Is a private platform so of course not a free speech issue, but the idiot has been framing things that way even before buying it. Dumb bastard On the plus side, there's a greater than 80% chance that Musk himself saw it and you probably (rightfully) hurt his feelings/ego.

It's weird how cavalier some people are being about Twitter going away. Like, I get it may not be a part of their personal day-to-day life, but as an organizational tool for so many movements (social or union) and a platform for so many voices it's lead to a tremendous amount of positive change in the world over the past 16 years.
Yeah, a lot of it sucks and Jack and company should have absolutely made a significantly greater priority of shutting down hate groups, blocking harassment, misinformation etc., and Elon Musk sucks and is dumb, but for it to be completely gone will affect a lot of lives in a negative way directly and indirectly.

I do feel bad for the indy wrestlers and promotions that Twitter's possible shutdown may impact as well, since some of them did get noticed through the platform.

Twitter, for better or for worse, has come to occupy such a specific niche as a communications platform that I can't see it just completely disappearing. If not from someone swooping in and grabbing the scraps as soon as Muskrat cashes out, then from any of the workers that have cashed out over the last few weeks.
I'm just trying to think of any other example of a platform crashing and burning and something picking up the archives.

Elon only has about 10% of twitter staff left and nothing has changed about it...twitter is not going away unless Elon wants it shut down IMO.
But to me IF it did end up going away...meh because it has largely done nothing but continually sown discourse between humanity and widening the gap of people against each other...not to say twitter is solely responsible but they may as well be the largest to blame for it along with the likes of Facebook.
And if it goes away sides will just create their own (like mastadon) and the worst thing to come from it will be people that quadruple down living in their own echo chambers.

Twitter needs to go away for good now. Musk and the people who gave him money will do nothing good with it. It can only be harmful from here on out.

I am now imagining Twitter becoming like Usenet is now...spam and posts about Bill Cullen tossing potatoes at people, and Bob Barker pooping.

Anyone remember when Elon was just “that SpaceX guy,” and we didn’t know what a useless f***stick he was? The signs were always there, but he had a top notch PR team and being based in Cali meant he had Hollywood friends there to run interference for him and give him cameos on TV shows as real life Iron Man and the type of billionaire who secretly helps at a soup kitchen. Once he started calling people pedos on social media and moved to Texas he lost access to Hollywood, and the PR that brought, all the people who said he was not in fact an engineering genius, contributed little but money in fact and was not a particularly nice person started being listened to.
