I don't watch much TV but watch more TV than movies. Some shows are great but some episodes just stand out above all others.
I'm wondering what your favorite TV shows are and what episode stands tall as THE Best or one of the best and why.
I think the Robin Williams Law & Order SVU episode is probably one of the best, if not the best. Robin was almost always known as a funny comedy guy but a few times in movies he played a dark character and sadly his real life had some dark moments. Like so many of his performances he put his all into this episode and it has always stood out to me. The Jerry Lewis episode was pretty great as well. I really can't think of any SVU episodes that really stand out like those two.

Auf Wiedersehen, Pet - Home Thoughts from Abroad Bomber’s daughter back home in England has run away from home. Bomber returns to England only for his daughter to turn up in Germany looking for him. She has to stay in the hut with the other six blokes who are under strict instructions not to swear, swan around bare-arsed and not fart out loud.
The Simpsons - Cape Feare The whole episode is full of some of the greatest scenes ever in the history of the show but it also has the single greatest scene… the FBI try to get Homer to imagine he’s now Homer Thompson.
Band of Brothers - The Breaking Point The second episode depicting Easy Company’s part in the Battle of the Bulge. They’re freezing and being shelled frequently and their CO is constantly absent and ineffectual as a leader. Lipton keeps the morale up and Spiers has one of the greatest moments of bad-assery in the history of everything. It ends in a church after successfully capturing a town where a choir sings for them as they count up the soldiers lost in the battle.
One Foot in the Grave - The Wisdom of the Witch Margaret has been told that Victor is about to meet with a tragic event. Patrick has a psychotic boyfriend of his secretary gunning for him after she tells him her and Patrick having an affair. Somehow, Victor and Patrick end up together in an isolated country house where there’s a tarantula on the loose and it’s snowing in the front room.
The Thick of It - The Rise of the Nutters/Spinners and Losers Two special episodes that finally introduce us to the opposition and the exploits of Peter Mannion. In the second episode the Spin doctors scramble to try and decide upon a new leader that pleases everyone.

Entourage: Return To Queens Boulevard +The boys return home to Queens NY after Vince gets fired from Smokejumpers and the project gets cancelled. Despite always playing it cool Vince finally snaps after the Medellin disaster sends him to rock bottom. He fires E after he is "embarrassed" that Gus Van Zant wouldn't let him audition for his latest movie despite liking him. However E's persistence pays off as Gus sends footage E sent him to Martin Scorsese and Vince is hired as the lead in "Gatsby." The episode ends with Vince and E reconciling and all of the gang including Ari being tremendously happy.

The Simpsons - Homer's Barbershop Quartet
All around a great episode, the humor always makes me laugh and their dig at the Grammys is hilarious.
Somehow, it's even funnier in Spanish

The Young Ones: Bambi - It's hard to pin down one episode, but the chaotic glee of this one as it goes beyond the house with the stuff on the train, skewering another British TV institution in University Challenge, and featuring a ridiculous list of cameos including Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Emma Thompson and Ben Elton, Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones and somehow Motorhead as well.

There are Seinfeld episodes I've watched surely dozens upon dozens of times. There are probably like 8-10 holy grail episodes but if I could only pick one then The Marine Biologist.

Supernatural's Faith, and What Is And What Should Never Be Stargate Atlantis' Grace Under Pressure, and The Shrine The Boys' The Bloody Doors Off, and Here Comes a Candle to Light You to Bed
I'm trying to choose for Breaking Bad and it's just impossible lol
As for why, all six episodes are emotionally intense, in different ways. I'm a simp for hurt/comfort and all of them were big on that. Also with developing these characters, and the relationships they have with the people around them.

Greatest Hits--Lost. Just an incredible capstone for my favorite character on the show. Really highlighted that despite his issues, Charlie was a good person at heart.

'The Constant' (Season 4) is the best episode, but the 7-episode climax of LOST's Season 3 - Catch-22/DOC/The Brig/The Man Behind the Curtain/Greatest Hits/Through the Looking Glass (Parts 1 & 2) - has to be one of the highest-quality runs of television there's ever been. Every minute superb.

I'll have to look some of these up. Thanks!
I think the original Law & Order episode "The Torrents of Greed" is probably the best. IMO that first season is far better than almost anything else, it's a two parter and just so perfectly done.
