Last night's episode of the Simpsons got me to thinking about Homer's family. And a question I have and that always bothered me, is in the episode "Mother Simpson" when Homer reunites with his long lost mother, the thing I have always wondered when they were catching up, did Homer ever tell her he knows about Herb. The first time we ever see Homer's mom is in a flashback in "Brother Where Our Thu" in which she tells Abe to keep the existence of Homer's half brother a secret. I always wondered about that, did she know Abe broke his promise.

It’s Homer, between the blows to the head and alcohol consumption till he blacks out I doubt he remembers Herb…

Knowing that the writers aren't always consistent with plotlines, I don't think so.

don't think he did, but she was keeping an eye on his exploits through the newspapers/tv as his adventures tended to end up there (also the homer car that tanked herb's company and the story behind it would have been big news for a while.)
but it's the Simpsons continuity hasn't been their strong point for well ever.

I'm sure she knows, but she probably doesn't begrudge him it considering if she recognized knowing brought Homer happiness.

Yeah, Simpsons are incredibly fast and loose with continuity, especially in the earlier years. Pretty sure they've even called themselves out on it a few times on the show
