I like Stephen Dorff fine as an actor, but god damn, if he thinks the Blade movies, especially the latter two, beat anything Marvel's turned out on their worst day....he's delusional.

The best bits aren't even about Marvel or DC. Sure, the only reason you're not in mainstream movies because they're not good enough for you, Stephen. Big Ryback vibes, there. I mean that’s totally why I didn’t appear in Oppenheimer either.

There will never be any super hero movie as bad as "Alone In the Dark" and that is something that Stephen Dorff can be proud of for sure.

I remember watching Blade: Trinity in the theatres, back when I thought every pro wrestler actor was going to be the new 'in' thing after Dwayne.
That wasn't even one of Paul's peak years. In either category.

Not really bashing MCU movies, but Sarah Michelle Geller speaks out on female-led Marvel movies and the difficulty in some corners of the audience accepting them

I would be willing to bet that these directors would jump at the chance to make a DC/Marvel movie if they were given carte blanche to make it in their own signature style à la Batman Returns (a Tim Burton movie to its core and still one of the best comic book movies).

I mean, James Cameron talks shit about Marvel movies, but he was once upon a time attached to write and direct a Spider-Man movie.

Has he ever mentioned why the job did not come to pass?

Without any expectations from Marvel? Has he ever mentioned why the job did not come to pass? I don't believe so, but it was ongoing rights issues that killed it. Marvel sold the Spider-Man rights to Cannon Films. When Giancarlo Parretti acquired Cannon and 21st Century Film Corporation he gave the latter along with the rights to Captain America and Spider-Man to Menahem Golan as part of Golan's severance package from Cannon. Golan then licensed the Spider-Man TV broadcast rights to Viacom, the home video rights to Columbia and theatrical rights to Carolco. As part of these sales Golan included a clause that guaranteed his involvement in all Spider-Man movies. Carolco hired Cameron and gave him full control over the production. He immediately cut Golan out of the deal, and Golan sued. Carolco then sued Viacom and Columbia for the broadcast and home video rights. Viacom and Columbia countersued. 20th Century Fox sued Carolco and Cameron, as Cameron was under exclusive contract with them. Carolco, 21st Century, and Marvel all went bankrupt, and MGM acquired 21st Century and claimed ownership of all production materials relating to the Carolco Spider-Man, suing Marvel over alleged fraud in the original deal between Cannon. Marvel merged with ToyBiz and courts determined that Golan's rights had expired, reverting back to Marvel, who subsequently sold them to Sony. Sony then traded the film rights for Casino Royale to MGM in exchange for the Carolco Spider-Man production materials and David Koepp based the screenplay for the first of the Raimi trilogy on Cameron's story.

Is it truly a Tim Burton film if Johnny Depp isn't the star? Hell, he was the star of Alice in Wonderland rather than the title character.

Look, people like what they like. I don't get the point in complaining about it other than pure envy.

A new Scorsese movie is out, so you know what that means:
"Fighting back" against comic book movies by supporting the movies of a man who directed and/or produced seven of them and has said he wouldn't be opposed to more if the right project came along isn't the strongest argument.

Stop comic book movies by supporting the director of two of the most critically and three of the most financially successful ones ever made.

I think any director who does this should be directly asked, "Why aren't you putting out movies that make more money than these 'not cinemas'? Are you stupid?"
