Saw this in theaters on Saturday, and I have to say it was pretty entertaining. Not like an upper-tier Renaissance-level WDAS movie, but it's sweet and cute with some impressive visuals that look cool on a larger screen so I'm glad they didn't just throw it on streaming. Kind of a pity that they threw most of their Holiday marketing behind Wakanda Forever, as good as that was they kind of overshadowed a release from their own company, heh.

The marketing has been practically nonexistent for this. I wonder if Lightyear’s underperformance earlier this year scared them from pushing another sci-fi animated film. I feel like I only heard about it a few days prior to the release date.

Sounds like they are going to take a bath on this.

Yeah, the most 'marketing' I've seen behind this film is just the shittiest people in the world complaining about it.

Literally the only time I've ever even heard of it was a couple weeks ago looking around on Wikipedia at a list of Disney movies.
Though really looking at further information on this I don't really see a way this was ever going to be a hit even if it did get good marketing. It kind of just sounds like a cluttered movie hard to describe down to a basic sales pitch and I don't think outside of legacy series there's really much of a market for pulpy sci-fi exploration like this because one project after another like this seems to flop.

I thought it looked fun. I will probably just catch it on Disney+ though unless I just really want to get out to the theater with my kid.

Despite flopping in theaters, it appears to have developed a following on Disney+

Despite flopping in theaters, it appears to have developed a following on Disney+ I ended up watching it on there. It was an enjoyable kid-targeted pulpy sci fi movie. Like a C+/B-. Visually great, but that seems like minimum competence. Weak script. Nothing really bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. A fine way to spend a lazy afternoon at home, but nothing I'd watch a second time.

Despite flopping in theaters, it appears to have developed a following on Disney+ With Iger back I doubt we’ll have a situation like this again. There was like barely any marketing to the point I couldn’t tell you what it was about. I believe Chapek is also the guy who made the call to release Soul, Luca and Turning Red straight to D+…and also considers animation to be for children.
