Already released in October of this year, Detective Knight: Rogue (Originally titled Knight) has two announced sequels, Detective Knight: Redemption and Detective Knight: Independence that were made "back-to-back-to-back" with a filming span of November 17th to December 14 of 2021, wrapping a little over three months before Bruce Willis would announce his retirement from acting due to his progressing health problems.
This gives me some serious Charles Bronson "Family of Cops" vibes where the aging action star filmed a trilogy and retired. His announced reason was a hip replacement in 1999 but there were unsubstantiated rumors that he was beginning to suffer from Alzheimer's (It would be announced in 2001 he was battling the disease so I think some people retroactively added it onto his retirement).
Bruce Willis films all have that caveat of realization toward what has going on behind the scenes so I'm a little slower about watching them now, but I do suppose I'll give this a try at some point.
The original titles were supposed to include puns like Devil's Knight and Christmas Knight but I'm assuming the title changes come from not hitting the holidays they'd be associated with since Devil's Knight should've been the October release and Christmas Knight obviously December but are now pushed where Detective Knight: Redemption is due out January 2023 while Detective Knight: Independence appears to be held back till July of 2023.
What are some of your thoughts on last films for big stars?
The sequel has a trailer and, not surprisingly, it has spoilers for the first film. Sharing it anyway.
