Punk going so hard on Bret stuff was like...nothing I really thought badly of during his run, but it did surprise me. I remember him going big into Macho Man stuff in WWE, and in ROH he seemed more likely to compare himself to Raven. Hard to tell if he just went through phases, or picked different models for himself in different promotions, or just saw advantages in those comparisons as the landscape shifted.
...the Bret comparison also feels pointedly chosen given his eventual lashing out at a pair of Shawn Michaels fans.

Punk did some segments with Bret during his heel run with the WWE title, Bret’s always spoken highly of him as a wrestler and Bret was one of the few guys from the industry that didn’t shit on Punk for his UFC venture. If I remember right, Bret said something to the degree of how he was proud of Punk for chasing his dream. I’m sure that factored into his whole admiration of Bret.

I always read Punk's Macho Man thing as an attempt at themeing; he's the Macho Man to Cena's Hogan, if you will. At least I hope it was thematic because his elbow drop was always bad.

Bret was also the guy who first unveiled the then-new AEW World Championship belt at Double or Nothing 2019. Have to imagine winning the championship with that connection was a nice feather in Punk's hat until the injuries made him all ornery.

Well there’s a pic on his Instagram story with him and both FTR guys now I hope this just keeps weirdly expanding into other allies of the existing people in the photos getting added. Like next one has Orton from when he and FTR were a stable for a few weeks, then Riddle, then Butch, then Ridge, then Sheamus, then Claudio...

He's posted a pic of Regal as well, as a sort of tribute to Terry Hall.

Jericho’s getting the stick online considering he was named but like…it doesn’t take Columbo to figure out this also includes Moxley, Danielson and Hangman considering all that happened involving them in all this.

Not at all surprising to hear that from Jericho. Didn’t he have a line in the first Dynamite after All Out where he said this was his locker room and no one was going to take that away?

Jericho has had it in for Punk since this tweet, if not since 2014 when he refused to do his podcast.
At least here the person he's trying to get blackballed has done something to warrant it. When he threatened Shotzi it was literally over a harmless joke.

chris jericho tells locker room he will make sure the company doesn’t sell as many tickets as they can Putting aside the actual merits of what he did or how hollow and laughable this is, if Punk is going to cause huge press shitstorms and assault co-workers, then he's in fact going to hurt ticket sales. Punk was not the only top act left off the card for months over his actions and it set in motion storyline f***eries that left a lot of the show significantly worse off for so long it's only now finally recovering from that. Punk's behavior in fact made hi ma liability to selling tickets.

Mox also took jabs at Punk but no one bothered to care.

Funny is that it was also the last time Jericho tweeted about politics in the twitter app.
Jericho and Hangman at first seemed that they didnt mind Punks presence but then Cabana stuff happened and went downhill since then

It's near-impossible not to read them dropping Jericho specifically knowing he'd be the most controversial possible guy to single out as having said it.

I’d like to remind people that the suspensions of Punk, Omega and the Bucks lead to Jon Moxley still to this day not being able to take the vacation he’s earned pretty much since the first year of the company, so much so they had to hire his wife to travel with him. This along with Khan basically saying “Danielson, Hangman and others stepped up to enter the tournament we had to scramble to make towards a show that was likely originally supposed to be the crowning of MJF”. To say it’s just Jericho is blatantly ignoring a bunch of context.

Moxley also was taking not so subtle shots at Punk in his promos. And he looked even more pissed off than usual on the Dynamite following All Out.
Dave says “several” top guys. I would not be surprised if Moxley is among them. He’s had to bail AEW out twice this year.
