His and Cody’s match were one of the things to really make me get back into wrestling and give AEW a chance. Good run and good career. And I was shocked at good he could still go. I’m not sure there was a single time when I thought, man it’s time for Dustin to give it up. There's been times he looked completely finished (99-01 WCW, 2007-08 TNA). He was out of shape, having crappy matches plus apparently having substance abuse issues but he managed to sort himself out and bounce back. Seriously, I don't think anyone who watched Black Reign would have believed over a decade later in 2019 the same guy would arguably have the MOTY. Oh I agree I meant his AEW run. If you asked me during the Black Reign run I would’ve said he needs to hang it up and just stop. But I thought he was good everytime he got in the ring in AEW.

probably in the minority in this, but I wouldn't mind seeing him upset MJF for the AEW title, then have MJF destroy him post-match and send him into retirement. most likely better ways to go about it, but I would dig that as his sendoff, personally

It's like the theme says. Wrestling has more than one royal family.
He's been part of so many eras, and ironically still experienced maybe his most fruitful years for in-ring action in AEW.
I know his philosophy is to "keep stepping", so he'll probably focus more on his training when he hangs up his boots, so this is probably not him leaving wrestling entirely, just active competition. No one can say he didn't give people everything he had, though.

If ROH gets it's own show I think a Funk like run ala ECW but with the ROH would be cool. I think you could get a really good story of the chase to win to the desperation trying to keep his first major championship in how many years, 8?

Fully expect him to show up in the WWE for a match or two and then get a gig as a backstage NXT guy ...what?

Now that he's retiring, he can finally go into the WWE Hall Of Fame.

Since he returned to the WWE in 2013 it seems like he was able to turn back the hands of time. He got in arguably the best shape of his career, put on some fun matches and never seemed to miss a beat. He was just as good in ring during his twighlight years than he was during his peak.
