Wait, what’s on now is from the 2019 version? I was wondering what this was. Think they should just stick to using classic episodes for the marathon.

Okay, like, I don't think the twist ending of that episode even slightly works? For one thing, the dude doesn't really come off sympathetic at all in immediately flying into cackling with delight at having killed the guy and then effectively boasting it while covered in blood in front of the guy's daughter, and for another, he could proooobably get off with a stint in a mental hospital? He had what seemed like months - hard to say with how all-over-the-place the episode's pacing was - of acting like a weirdo and talking about how he was hearing voices leading up to it, any good lawyer could probably get him off.
Seems like a thing where it's 1), not all that sad since the dude really was unhinged, and 2), not all that biting because he probably more or less gets away with it anyway.

I really enjoy catching good episodes that I haven’t seen in twenty years
“And When the Sky Was Opened” is an incredibly well acted episode that I never hear people talk about. It deserves a lot more respect.

I knew this episode from its reputation but goddamn it's even dumber actually watching it. I get the metaphor, because holy shit how could you not, but the whole core concept of the thing is just so inherently broken. Even getting past the real world implications of the whole political aspect, it's just really stupid that people take this kid talking about giving everyone free video games and doing dumb music numbers would capture the populace's love like this when in the real world any sort of super well-known kid like this like, say, younger Justin Beiber pretty much universally always ends up wildly reviled.
The whole thing is just busted conceptually. Like there are some stupid episodes of the original, and really even utter classics like Monsters Are Due On Maple Street can be pretty reliant on your suspending your disbelief a bit on how quickly and universally people will go completely to crazy town, but this just feels like an SNL skit that someone decided to pad out for an hour and play dead seriously. It's so weird that they thought this would work.

Personal opinion but I wish they would add the 1985, 2002, & 2019 reboots. Maybe next year do: Day 1: classic TZ Day 2: '85, '02, '19 episodes Day 3: classic TZ, & maybe do fan poll for the final few hours for fans to vote on favorite episodes (out of all the series') which would air here I totally don't ever see that happening but I don't mind them mixing it up

As if to confirm their assumed status as a streaming service, TUBI currently has the one season 2002 revival of the Twilight Zone, hosted by Forrest Whittaker, available for streaming. This seemed the place to share such information. I've been a little curious about looking into it and the 80s show (seen some of the latter, none of the 2002 one) so appreciate the heads up. If/When you do, try not to immediately give up on it with the first story of the first ep. It's rough but the second story of the episode (with Jason Alexander of all people) was really solid.

It's so weird that they thought this would work. I remember chuckling at the punchline of that episode and then letting it slide out of my mind to save room for literally anything else. Once listened to an interview (I think it was a Writer's Panel with Ben Blacker ep) with a few members of the Peele Twilight Zone Writer's Room and there was one dude so super obviously proud of that episode. It was a trip.

Well, give it this, of the reboot episodes they aired I actually liked the bodyswapping one quite a bit.
