So assuming at least one title is freed from Roman (I’m assuming they both will be): I’m gonna say
Wwe championship:
Cody Rhodes Kevin Owens
Universal Championship:
Seth Rollins LA Knight

We've asked this question for almost two years straight now but the answer really should be "Is Roman gonna drop either of these titles f***ing ever?"
This run has been so absolutely dire in who should and will take the belts from Roman that I'm dreading if they actually do get The Rock for a feud and drag this shit out even LONGER...

Sheamus. He had a renaissance this year, or we finally opened our eyes and realised that he is an excellent wrestler and saw him in a new light. Either way, dude should have had a crack at one of the titles. Hell, If WWE wasn't wanting Roman to seemingly break records for the sake of breaking records, they should have given him a short run with the title this year and it wouldn't have hurt Reigns in the slightest.

The titles probably won’t be split until after Wrestlemania. I’d have whoever beats Roman at Wrestlemania should probably lose one of the titles at Backlash in a triple threat match to protect the new champion an keep them from getting beat. For example, Cody wins the Rumble, then beats Roman for both titles at Wrestlemania. He then loses the Universal Title in a triple threat match at Backlash, but keeps the WWE Title going forward.

Eh, the main roster may still be held hostage, so I'll concentrate on the NXT belt.
Carmello Hayes needs to win that thing.

Cody Rhodes.
Drew McIntyre-though I think that moment has passed for the time being, as the Cardiff show was his best chance at it.
Bobby Lashley, now that Vince is gone they could reform the Hurt Business, at least it seems that way after that segment with MVP/Adam Pearce last night.

Considering the plan apparently for Cody is to restart his feud with Seth it's probably gonna be another year till he's world champ in WWE.
Storyline wise, you'd think it would either be KO or Sami, or they pull the trigger on Gunther

KO needs to get the stink of that Universal Title reign off him.

This may sound crazy but the WWE has poisoned the well so hard for me that I’m struggling to think of someone that I 100% want to see win it.
I personally don’t care about Cody. Seth, KO, and all of those guys have already had it a bunch of times and didn’t exactly set the world on fire. Most others have been presented 50/50 at best.
Maybe Sami, but even he isn’t generating a ton of enthusiasm at the moment.

Whichever face ends up taking the tittle off Roman should hold on to a few months and drop to Gunther.

Cody, Gunther, Sami & Seth. With Gunther however I am happy to wait until 2024 as long as he stays healthy. Have him bulldoze through the Rumble then win the big one at Mania. Heck, I wouldn’t even mind Sheamus getting a short reign, he’s more than earned it.
