The time he interrupted Max’s rap enterance also made my blood boil. If they are pairing him up with Rick Ross, that’s a good sign. Give him the All Atlantic or TNT title next year and the World title In 2024

Maybe TNT title..but, like MJF, if everything goes smooth I can see him going straight to the world championship.

I agree though dude is a future World Champion.

With Rollins and reigns the tag titles worked because they also won MITB and the Rumble before their first title wins. I wasn’t a fan of MJF winning the world title Straight up either but I guess winning the dynamite diamond ring is sort of an accomplishment?

Is there something I'm missing, like a segment this week or something?
MJF is already an all-time great heel, Swerve just seems like "generic, forgettable rap-gimmick midcard heel" to me.

It's a combo of having great segments and matches on Dynamite, being a great smarmy villain of a heel, and also if you watched him on the Indies and even NXT, he's way more than that, even if I think it's debatable if he's outright better than MJF, he can get to his level easily.

I don't know if I'd go that far, but Swerve is absolutely a main eventer as long as AEW treats him as such.
That he and Lee's response to overtures from WWE was apparently a hard "no thanks" suggests they're really people AEW should invest in.

If you are good enough and hot enough, you don't need a midcard title. Hangman didn't need a midcard title, and neither does Swerve.

That he and Lee's response to overtures from WWE was apparently a hard "no thanks" suggests they're really people AEW should invest in. Apparently, the only WWE higher-up who ever saw any real star potential in Swerve was Shawn Michaels. Like, the supposed plan to make Top Dolla of all people the "breakout star" is prime late Vince McMahon, but even Triple H didn't really see a whole lot in him. And if you've ever heard Swerve talk about it, he doesn't see Triple H in the same glowing regard as a lot of former WWE talent who got cut and made their way to AEW or elsewhere.
Swerve is a guy who AEW wanted to be on board from Day One, but he went to WWE instead as AEW was a much riskier choice at the time. Can't say I blame him, but he probably would've been seen as one of the pillars of the young company if he joined in 2019. And while money always talks, he's someone who will likely be pretty loyal to AEW and not tempted by Papa H's loving embrace.

MJF's damn good more often than not, but he still has those promos every now and then where I feel like he's phoning it in. Swerve's been great every week for me.

They're different type of heels and love both I do think giving Swerve either TNT or All Atlantic title would be good

MJF is a better heel (right now)
But Swerve is far and away a better character and IMO this is where Swerve IMO has the advantage because it allows him more creative avenues where as MJF is a great heel...but kind of it which is fine not everyone is cut out to really go hog wild as a character.

I'll want to revisit this conversation in a year or two. Swerve's kinda in that time period where a new character is firing on all cylinders and impressing with novelty, and maintaining that for another year is the real challenge.
(I stand by the rule that most good ideas in wrestling are outstanding for a year or two but burn out after that.)

Swerve has a certain presence. MJF is held up by easy, cheap heat at the moment. But I'd still put MJF over him. In the ring, MJF delivers. And I've yet to see a Swerve promo that is better than MJF when he's on.
