1. Stardew Valley Might be cheating since there's not really an "end", but I completed the community center, got the best rating from Grandpa and have seen pretty much everything so what the hell. I've been kind of grappling with that in terms of revisiting Harvest Moon 64 or Back to Nature. It really doesn't take a long time (especially in 64, if you grind at it you can get the greenhouse in the first season and once you do money and time cease mattering) to do everything there is to do, but does it count to beat them when you've had a kid, won the various festivals, gotten all the home extensions, and everything else there is to actually do or do you have to reach the point in year 3 where your farm gets evaluated for it to count? Because I love those games but sticking with them for that long is a grind because after awhile if you're good at them there's just nothing left but doing the same chores every day for no real reward.

5. Super Mario Bros. 3
I always make a point of getting all the warp whistles and then never actually using them, so I figured hey, mix it up and jump right to the end this time. I'll probably do a more proper run of it sooner rather than later but for now was kind of fun to just speed through the game for once.

2. Resident Evil 2 Remake. Completed it last year as well but fancied doing it again. Well worth a purchase if you like original.

Just beat the main game of Assassin's Creed Odyssey between dealing with the Cult of Kosmos and getting the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus. Now it's on to the DLC's.

2 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge Had a blast with this one. A good throw back to the original arcade games with streets of rage 4 thrown in. Still got to try multi player which I reckon should be a blast.

1. The Witcher 3 (PS5 version)
I'd first played Witcher 3 in 2019 and greatly enjoyed it. I read the entire Witcher book series in 2022 leading up to the next-gen upgrade, so this second playthrough I had far more appreciation for characters, events, etc. It shows its age a bit nowadays but Witcher 3 is still a wonderful game - it and Mass Effect 2 are IMO the pinnacle of this style of RPG.

6. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Probably should be focusing on Persona 4 or Fire Emblem Engage having just bought both of those, but eh, I felt like doing a quickie run of Yoshi's Island instead. Always a ton of fun.

Right now I'm going back and forth between Persona 3 on PC, a Pokemon Fire Red Nuzlocke, Sonic Heroes and trying to 106% Crash 4.
I did manage to finish a casual Pokemon Crystal playthrough, so that's my first for 2023!

Though all I really wanted was more Kassandra in a suit. It was a sad start, I felt first blade was the better of the two tbh. Not to say fate of Atlantis is bad though. Yeah they could have done so much more with that

7. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
I think the more I play of this game the more I realize that kind of the biggest problem with it is that it just feels... unsatisfying. Like it looks nice, it plays well, but it kind of feels like hits don't really have a lot of impact and many times when you get a kill it feels very, "... That's it?"
I dunno. The game's definitely a fun timesink I can see myself turning on here and there when the mood strikes me but it is definitely on the basic side. Hopefully it's expanded on and feels a bit more impactful if they ever do a sequel.

2. Midnight Fight Express- really fun beat em up definitely a game that prioritizes gameplay over story if you care about that. does get hard later on in the game that I’ve seen comparisons to Hotline Miami only difference is that it’s not one hit kill like in that game at least not mostly.

8. Donkey Kong Country
Last time I played through it was the Game Boy Color version, but this time was back to the Super Nintendo one. Maybe should try out the GBA version sometime?
Game kind of speaks for itself I guess, definitely a fun time killer. Though one issue I do have with it is I feel like too much of it's kind of designed around you memorizing the level layouts rather than being about your reflexes so much. Lot of times you just get totally blindsided by something you couldn't possibly see coming unless you know it's there, though guess it helps that in terms of lives and barrels the game is very generous anyway.

After taking a forced break of about a month due to things getting moved around a bit, I finally got back to gaming about a week ago and can get started on this year's list.
1. Yakuza Kiwami 2 Another Yakuza down. I think I'm all Yakuza'd out for the time being and will be trying out other stuff.
2. Super Mario World (replay) Been a few years since I've done a run through of this, but it turns out that knowledge of all 96 exit locations is still sitting in my brain waiting to be dusted off. I might be on a bit of a retro trip now, probably not exclusively, but as an addition to the usual stuff.

1. Pokemon Crystal Finished a few weeks ago so uhhh don't remember much.
2. Crash Bandicoot: N Sane Trilogy I did an "All Gems" playthrough of the trilogy, stopping with Warped because I didn't want to collect relics at all, just gems. Unfortunately, you need all relics to gain access to all levels in order to be able to collect all of the gems, so...uhh good enough lol.
Gonna give Crash: Wrath of Cortex a shot now. I remember hating the load times on PS2 but hopefully using the PS2 emulator speeds things along. Lately I've been playing like 5 or 6 different games at a time so I usually have trouble finishing a game at all, so getting 2 done so far this year is pretty sweet.

Should fighting games count in this discussion? I mean when doing arcade mode. If so...
4. King of Fighters 2002: Ultimate Match
I own the hard copy after buying it at a gamers expo last year (It was December 2021, so not a full two years yet). I can see that this was an improvement over the original version of KOF2002. Not sure if there are different bosses for certain characters/teams, because I remember playing the original version and Rugal was the boss for that one. I ended up fighting Krizalid, the boss for KOF99.
