It doesn’t seem like the right place for it tbh. Okada is there and defending, sure…but it’s a storyline for a non NJPW show and a NJPW US show feels like an extra step removed from it. Especially one that sold out on pretty much just Mercedes debut. A good portion of this specific crowd might have zero idea what is happening.

they had no way of knowing but having this on the same night as Sami vs. Roman in Montreal is negating any sort of buzz on this. People are going to be drained after EC (no matter what happens)

Best decision he made was to go to AEW That Impact run really didn't go him good since he was all over the place from manager to that horrible ass group with him, Storms and Bram I think. He rehabbed his image and came in fresh when they really needed it and brings a credibility not a lot of people can

I am still surprised he went back to Impact when the door for NXT was open but I am guessing they paid him a pretty penny Too bad they couldn't pay EY and Roode and they used that to their advantage

I think he got the standard top guy contract of 100K threshold while NXT I think was only giving out like 50k at the time

I think he got the standard top guy contract of 100K threshold while NXT I think was only giving out like 50k at the time Yeah, that sounds right. If WWE kept him, then yeah, he'd have stood to make more money, but I remember him explaining he's a family man and that he wasn't getting any younger, so it was a risk he wasn't comfortable taking versus guaranteed money.

Only thing is at least it was guarantee he would see money but no telling if he would been in NXT a year or two before getting to the real money he wanted Not like Impact was paying people on time (see Roode and EY) but I assume he had that written in stone with no missed payments. Since EY and Roode left because they was owed money away, that also wiped out some financial burden

The STRONG title match is in a curious position, both figuratively and literally. It’s on super early for whatever reason, which feels like a demotion in a time where the previous version of STRONG seems to be washed away. That makes it feel like a KENTA win is coming to usher in the new era, but Rosser is the new head coach of the LA Dojo, so I expect him to still be very much a part of future US events. KENTA is, in his own words, “stuck in America” because of his kids, so he will also be on any shows run in the states. There’s also the matter of if they move forward at all with the KENTA redemption storyline Tana hinted at.
