I came across this BuzzFeed article of 21 reminders of 90s Pizza Hut and had to share it with you guys since a lot of us were kids in the 90's. www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/pizza-hut-best-place-world-191602217.htmlFor our family going to Pizza Hut was a fairly rare treat so I always enjoyed the experience. I would love to find a Dine-In Pizza Hut with a Ms Pac-Man arcade cabinet today!

Dine in Pizza Hut and getting KFC when they primarily sold chicken by the bucket are two fast food thing I try to explain to younger people.

It's like trying to explain that there was a time before Little Caesar's revolved around the Hot-N-Ready concept.
Or that McDonald's sold pizza for a hot second in the 90s.

I'm almost kinda sad that all the Pizza Huts around here closed down. I mean, their pizza is awful and greasy compared to local places, but there was a nostalgia. Especially the reading program you redeemed for free pizza.

The Pizza Hut I largely spent a lot of time with as a kid - including having at least one birthday party there - burnt down a couple of years ago. It's mostly rebuilt at this point but still kind of crazy to think about the actual space itself being gone.
Glad that list included the PS1 demo discs, I immediately thought of those seeing the thread.

As a child, Pizza Hut was a step up above the other two pizza outlets; Domino's and Little Caesar's.
Even though Little Caesar's was my favorite, I still really enjoyed going to Pizza Hut and getting a pizza served to you at the table in those black cauldron style pans. While there wasn't a ton separating it from the other places, presentation really meant a lot, and we still treated it as a special event to go there. I always liked the fact that they had that salad bar, the celebrity pictures on the walls (Elvis dancing with a pizza) as well as the "evolution" of pizza cutters over the years. You also had one or two arcade machines, and some cheap vending machines in case you were waiting around, you could throw a couple quarters in there and get a super ball to keep yourself busy. You also had the Book It program where you got a free personal pan if you read a book. It was otherwise always a few bucks more expensive there, but the charm of eating there was great.
Then once I reached my early adulthood, it seems like this template was traded out for having a place like the others where you just picked it up. And now there was Papa John's to compete with.
Now, I hated Domino's my entire life, to the point where I openly mocked it every time I would drive by there, but to their credit, they fixed the problems that plagued them for years. Papa John's has mostly been consistently good, and Little Caesar's is just killing it with their prices. So where does Pizza Hut fall? Well, their food is rather mediocre for what you pay, and Papa John's taste better for similar prices. However Domino's and Little Caesar's is mostly a good bargain for what you pay, and I'm sure most people would also find a local place that has pizza that outdoes most places.
So that said, I've said for a while that Pizza Hut feels like the odd man out as far as chains goes. I know they're still the biggest chain in the country, but I'd easily axe them if I was forced to choose. It's sad really, since everything that set them apart from just being a standard pizza parlor is mostly gone in most restaurants.

I think our pizza hut is still dine in, but I haven't been in about 15 years. I thought of getting some for old times sake but the prices cured me of that.

Dine in Pizza Hut and getting KFC when they primarily sold chicken by the bucket are two fast food thing I try to explain to younger people. Hell, when I was a kid, the local Dairy Queen didn't have 1) hot food, or 2) an indoors place to sit. It was a place where you walked up and ordered either cones or sundaes, and then left... like a food truck, but it was a building. And it stayed closed between November and March. I think I was about 6 when it expanded into a burger place. And then there was the drive-in A&W, where you sat in your car, with the tray hanging off the driver's window, and ate there.

When I was little, I used to think it was called Pizza Hot. I also thought Star Trek was Star Track, and a Light sabre was a Lifesaver.

Our Dairy Queen was the same way. It was a big deal when they added a drive thru back in the late 90s.

Pizza Hut was always strange to me. The pizza was overly greasy and not very good... but if you served it with fountain Pepsi the pizza was f#$@ing amazing and brings massive amounts of nostalgia.
To this very day if I get a Pepsi with Pizza Hutt it just tastes "right".

There's still a number of Pizza Hut dine in areas here in the Philippines, usually at malls. Some Shakey's branches as well.
