Yeah, was quite happy to get summoned while unemployed, free travel and food.
Was interesting to see how it all worked, less interesting waiting around. Kinda disappointed I didn't get a second trial like many others that were ony jury did.
But like others said long and/or harrowing trials would be less welcome. Mine was quite tame but even that stays with you.

I cannot serve on a jury.
My wife is a district attorney, my best friends are officers throughout the state I live in, and another family friend is a judge out here.
Needless to say, a judge sees me and he or she will immediately me home due to an assumed bias towards the officers/district attorney's office.

I've been called 3 times but have never been picked, thankfully. I'm way too anxious to deal with jury duty.

I got an ad on Instagram about being on a jury for a mock jury.

Things I’d rather do than jury duty; 1: watch as my mother goes though my entire browser history. 2: stick my head in a Waffle House sink and take a big gulp. 3: relive all of 2020.

I got a summons once. Showed up on the day, but a plea deal had been reached so I was simply sent on my way. I missed a day of work and paid for my parking but didn’t get paid a dime.
My wife has been selected twice and each time had to call a line once a day for two months each time to see if she had to come in.

Ive skirted it three times. Once was in college, easy enough. The last two times I didn’t respond or show up. They try to send you threatening letters in the mail about warrant for your arrest blah blah blah but they never follow through. Was told there was an active bench warrant for my arrest but two weeks later I got pulled over for a traffic stop and the cop didn’t know anything about it even AFTER I mentioned it.
As far as I am concerned if I ever see another little green piece of paper in the mail again, its going straight into the trash

Based on the few juries I've watched from working with judges, there seems to be a lot of doodling involved.

I've gotten 2 summons in my life. First one I was excused after half a day, never called. The second time, I had to go sit in the room 2 1/2 days and was excused, never being called again.

I got it once and just never went.
No consequences whatsoever.

I may have the record here for summons. Five times, though I’ve never had to serve. They summoned me 3 times when I was in college, but each time, finals week was during my term, so I was excused. I think they may have gotten tired of it, because they left me alone for almost 20 years (showing my age a bit).
But in 2020, I got summoned—in the height of the pandemic. Needless to say, I wasn’t happy about it. Besides the obvious, I have some asthmatic issues that potentially put me in a higher risk category if I contracted COVID, particularly prior to the vaccines. I reached out to my allergy/asthma doctor, who wrote a letter to the court asking for me to be excused. She said she was surprised they were even doing jury trials at that point. I never heard back from the court whether I was excused. But I called the line to see if I needed to report, and they said all trials had been cancelled for that day. So it was a non-issue.
Then last year, I got a summons for grand jury. Again with the bad timing—I’m the IT manager at my office, and we were doing a major system conversion at the time, so it was seen as pretty important for me to be in the office. Our CEO (my boss) wrote a letter to the court for me to be excused. I never heard from the court whether that was sufficient to be excused, so I thought I’d better show up the first day, with a copy of the letter in hand. The judge asked for volunteers from the pool and, thankfully, had enough where he didn’t need to start picking people, so it was a non-issue. It actually sounded like it might be interesting to serve, but the timing would not have been good for me.
EDIT: I had actually forgotten about my 2020 summons. 😂

Nope and I have an issue with jury duty as a concept because have you met the average person? Can’t say I’d want my liberty in the hands of 12 of them lol

Though given some of the judges on the bench, are you sure you’d want your fate in the hands of just one person? *For the record, I believe most judges do a fine job. But sometimes you hear about one that’s a bit off the mark, to put it nicely.

I've served on a jury previously, and have been summoned to come in on January 23.

I'm not really interested in jury duty. I constantly get summons for it, but I just don't go and really don't care to go. I don't even open the letters anymore and usually put them in the recycle bin.

Was picked once for petit court and it was an decent experience. The case was for money owed for some design work, so it wasn't particularly dramatic. All the court people were super nice. The jury had an older guy who didn't seem to be paying attention, a pregnant lady, a guy who wanted to quit halfway, and a couple other sort of jury stereotypes.

I've only done jury duty once about 5 years ago. I'd gladly do it again!
The court isn't far from where I live, the case I had was interesting not harrowing (it was an insurance fraud case where the guy was accused of burning down his business premises for the payout), free lunch in a decent restaurant and (what sounds like the big difference in Ireland) your job still has to pay you for the time you're on jury duty.
As far as I'm concerned, sign me up!
I actually ended up being the foreman by default of showing the slightest bit of initiative.
Court Aide: So I'll step outside and you can select a foreperson *leaves*
*A good 30 seconds of total silence and looking at each other*
Me: So like, anyone have an idea on how we should start?
Person A: Do you want to do it?
Person B: Yeah, you'd be good!
Me:...I guess??
Boom! Foreman.
