So which one of the two has a better chance of keeping it secret? Who could have been worked out in real life.
Batman's I think was less secure as obviously he has a lot of equipment which would cost a penny or two and Bruce is pretty loaded. Also didn't Batman start appearing in Gotham round the same time as Bruce Wayne came back from his gap year/traveling the world doing God knows what.
People probably wouldn't think of Superman even having another normal identity. I mean, he can do cool shit and fly, why would he waste time living as a human and working a normal job? If I was Sups, I'd say f*** that.

If I was Sups, I'd say f*** that. Bruce Wayne keeping his identity secret is a stretch. Bruce Wayne is a famous playboy meaning the paparazzi would be all over him. People could track the gadgets and money to him, like in Dark Knight or Ras Al Ghul in the comics and TAS. And in the comics isnt Bruce Wayne publicly funding Batman? Having that kind of connection would just make lots of people make the final jump to Wayne is Batman. Of course in the comics Batman has lots of shapeshifter friends who could help him out. But then the public knows that as well so maybe its a wash. And like you said no one thinks Superman has a secret identity. He doesnt wear a mask, he has a job where he can spend lots of time as Superman without a boss or coworkers becoming suspicious. Sure he spends a lot of time in Metropolis but thats one of the biggest and most important cities in the world. But people think when he is not there he is in space, the other side of the world, or just chilling with the Justice League or on a mountaintop somewhere.

For so long I *thought* Batman's secret identity was pretty well kept, but now in the social media era, especially looking at someone like Elon Musk, there's no way in hell he keeps things under wraps.
However, I have seen a lot of people go, "Holy shit I didn't recognize them!" when someone merely changes their style. Plus there was that viral trend a bit back of people doing their own Clark Kent/Superman shifts doing things like changing their hairstyle, posture, mannerisms, and putting on glasses and looking like completely different people.

Even though I prefer Batman in almost every way, I'll always concede that Superman was better in almost every way.

Superman had a journalism degree, Batman had PTSD.

Batman hiding as Bruce is semi-possible up into 1980's ish. Once the 90's came around the internet and celebrity culture would have busted him a million times over by now.
Oddly enough, Superman's alter ego probably works better now than before. Today he could easily be a "faceless" Journalist that just posts on twitter with a fake picture/name. Clark Kent would literally never have to meet another human or show his face. The perfect alter ego.

Modern Clark would totally be a Twitter journalist with a cartoon drawing of themself as their profile pic.

I always thought Batman's secret identity was terrible until I read a tweet saying it would be like Kim Kardashian being a secret superhero and now I understand how Bruce can get away with it.

Batman’s was done by Zorro. Simply based on preference, I always liked the dichotomy between Supes identities, more than Batman’s.

I have to admit I always enjoyed Superman's a bit more because the entire idea that someone so powerful would live so humbly (and post Crisis arguably sees himself more as Clark than Superman) is so antithetical to people like Luthor that it really does make it fit perfectly. This comic where a research team deduces that Superman is Kent and Lex's response just says it all: {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}

I have to wonder though if face recognition software would be able to figure out Clark Kent is Superman. Would Clark's friends suddenly get photos of Clark labeled as Superman on their phones and Facebook? Batman would be trickier to catch that way because of the cowl, especially if we're talking comics Batman with the white lenses.
A new vigilante popping up in Gotham shortly after Bruce Wayne has just adopted another kid would probably be a dead giveaway, though. Surely, the more Robins he gets through the harder it would be to conceal everything.

Despite people making fun of it, there is actually a lot of scientific evidence that at a glance, glasses do work pretty well as a disguise.

Superman’s works so well because he’s able to adapt so many polar opposites of what he’s really like. As Clark Kent he tends to let people push him around a lot - even Lois is dismissive of him in the original movies and was even outright nasty to him at times in the Fleischer animated series. He’d be the last person anyone would suspect to have the strength and courage of Superman.

Surely, the more Robins he gets through the harder it would be to conceal everything. It’s an interesting thought-experiment. If someone realistically acquired Superman’s abilities today, how far would they have to go to accurately conceal their identity. Dunno if the comics have touched base on it but it’ll be interesting to see if Gunn’s (Or Abrams..) Supes films acknowledge it or completely gloss over it ala the Snyder flicks.

Bruce would be way more successful at keeping it hidden if he was an eccentric, Howard Hughes-style rarely seen type. Hang out in Wayne Manor pissing in jars and collecting toenail clippings during the day, visitors will slow to a trickle REAL fast.
