The strange thing is that PPV was normal for most WCW PPVs, a few undercard matches thrown together, a TV or US title in the beginning and middle and then some bigger matches towards the end. It was more so before Hogan coming and Bischoff doing more for the PPVs but it didn't exactly end there. The format was mostly the same, maybe just less random guys you haven't seen or wouldn't seen again in like 1996-1998. I know Bischoff took over in like early 93 but I feel like his era really didn't start until really after Super Brawl. Super Brawl had those random matches while Spring Stampede really started to have more that made sense. It did seem like Spring Stampede was the first PPV where they started having it where every match had some sort of build and storyline to it. It did have Badd against DDP which wasn't a feud yet but every other match was either a title match (Flair/Steamboat, Nasties/Cactus and Payne, Austin/Muta, Sting/Rude, Regal/Pillman) or a grudge feud (Boss/Vader, Dustin/Bunkhouse Buck). They were actually kind of ahead of the curve as far as doing the modern PPV format goes. WWF was still doing random midcard matches with no build through 95. Hunter Hearst Helmsley against Bob Holly at Summerslam being an example.

What are some wrestling PPVs that never made it to home video? Off the top of my head: AWA/WCCW/CWA Superclash III UWF (Abrams) Beach Brawl WCW Superbrawl 4 WCW Souled Out 1997 (strangely) All WCW ppvs from Halloween Havoc 2000 through Greed 2001 Any other notable ones (I was going to say Over The Edge 1999, but apparently there was a VCD release sold on the International market)? I remember reading online shortly after Owen’s death that WWE decided not only to not release the show on home video but they didn’t even provide the results in their magazine. I was surprised to find out that they didn’t release the Dec. 1997 PPV due to the changeover from video release companies. It In Your House: Degeneration X was released in the UK, I imported the Tagged Classic's of it.

I have done some extensive research into the official WCW home video releases for my website. Here are the PPVs that have were not released in the US: Bunkhouse Stampede Japan Supershow II Japan Supershow III SuperBrawl IV Collision in Korea (Released in Japan, though different to the edited PPV) Souled Out '97 Road Wild '97 (Released in UK) Fall Brawl '97 (Released in UK) Souled Out '98 (Released in UK) Spring Stampede '98 (Released in UK) The Great American Bash '98 (Released in UK) Bash at the Beach '00 (was due to be released in the US and was given the code T7198 but was only released in Canada under code 19807) Halloween Havoc '00 Mayhem '00 Starrcade '00 Sin '01 SuperBrawl '01 Greed '01
WCW also aired some of the Superstar Series on PPV. Some of which were not released on home video: Buff Bagwell: Buff the Stuff Disco Inferno: The Man With the Moves! Vampiro: Another Nail in the Coffin Billy Kidman: Shooting Star

Didn't No Mercy 2016 and one other one from that fall never see a proper home video release?

(I was going to say Over The Edge 1999, but apparently there was a VCD release sold on the International market)? I'm 95% sure that was a bootleg that was just so widespread as the only way to get it that the only way it was through bootlegs off the VCD in the early days of eBay that lifted the exact same template. It became so circulated that the perception became that it was official.

Also, did Fall Brawl 94 really get a home video release?

Kind of off topic, but does anyone remember the smell of a warm Coloseum Video cassette fresh out of the VCR?

What are some wrestling PPVs that never made it to home video? Off the top of my head: UWF (Abrams) Beach Brawl This one did get released on VHS. The version of it that is on YouTube is the home video version (with some alternate voiceovers, some of the music edited out, etc).
Can definitely confirm, I have a VHS copy of this.

This thread having so many WCW PPVs... It's not why WCW died, but being unable to produce some of this stuff at the same kind of rate the WWF did was a symptom of why WCW died. The revenue stream was never there in the way WCW needed it to be.

I know not that anyone would’ve ever brought a copy but was Hero’s of Wrestling released on any platform? I vaguely recall seeing a VHS at Media Play about a year afterward. Hell yeah Media Play, man That was my gateway to the Tokyopop FMW DVDs and a lot of anime and other foreign film stuff.

For example on Xmas Eve 96, I got some money from my Gran for Xmas, I went to HMV and seeing as I was a huge Wrestling Fan, I went to the Wrestling Video section and got International Incident. If Bash At The Beach 96 would have been there with Hogan, Hall, Nash, Luger, Savage and any other ex WWE guy on the cover, then I might have gone with that.

Were the WCW/NJPW Supershows ever released? I know that they were shown on PPV sometime after they happened(with the matches involving WCW guys). I would think that maybe they were released in Japan? The 91 show was definitely released. I have a copy. Found it at a local record store about 20 years ago. Along with a bunch of other NWA/WCW VHS releases from around 87 to 91.

Media Play was my favorite place to blow my allowance as a teenager. My mom would take me and maybe one or two friends and while she perused the rest of the mall we would be looking through all the wrestling magazines and VHS tapes at Media Play. We would spend hours there. We didn't know what the hell loitering was at the time lol. The most random find I can recall purchasing there was a VHS 2 pack of Herb's UWF. Can't remember what the hell was on either tape but I know I bought it.
