Oh and James Hong deserved to get either a lifetime achievement Oscar or honorary Oscar this year. His first ever time invited to the Oscars would have been made even extra special if he got hardware himself, imo. Wait, what? I saw a half-dozen YouTube/Instagram "stars" pictured on the red carpet last night and a genuine legend like Hong took 70 f***ing years to get an invite? Jesus Christ. Yeeeeeeep. He also only just got a star on the Walk of Fame just last year. I know that that’s a completely different process and you basically like…buy your Star on the Walk, but still!

Oh, these happened already? I haven't noticed in years. I guess the one good thing about Will Smith slap was that I realised the Oscar's happened last year. I do try to watch at least a portion of the ceremony every year. Though funny enough, when they did the Best Actor and Best Actress awards this year, I thought it was odd that they didn't have last year's Best Actor winner give away the Best Actress award. I remembered the slap, but completely forgot Will Smith won Best Actor later that same night last year.

A gold plated statue is not given to people who can afford the real thing. What is the world coming to?

THINGS I LIKED All 23 main awards being on the actual show again. Pretty much most of the winners felt like they deserved something - either for that nomination or in general for their career.
THINGS I DIDNT LIKE All those snubs from the Memorial video. Including folk in one of the films nominated for best pic, and the guy who directed a former winner of the Oscar (Hugh Hudson, Chariots of Fire director) to poor old David Warner and Sylvia Sims. And even Marsha Hunt! And too many others to mention.
Playing music when someone is about to speak to shoo them off. It's just impolite. It was kept to a minimum but still happened once or twice.
Show was a lot shorter than previous ones, so if they just went 4 hours, they could keep all the awards in, let the 2-3 extra people say hi to their mums and do a proper memorial video.
