I just watched the 1990 one for the first time in forever and that is so good. The opening part of that match is easily one of the best sequences in any Rumble. And the crowd is living and dying every time someone almost gets thrown out.

I probably could rank each and every Royal Rumble Match, but I won't bore you. Instead, I'll provide my top five and bottom five.
TOP FIVE
1. 2018 - Probably my favorite because it felt like such a generational shift. Featured star turns for a number of wrestlers, and included perhaps my favorite Royal Rumble finale of all-time: the new era (Nakamura, Reigns, Balor) vs. the old guard (Cena, Reigns, Mysterio) turning into the internet darlings (Nakamura, Balor) versus the company favorites (Cena, Reigns).
2. 2008 - Includes some great moments: Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker at 1 and 2, the MSG return of Roddy Piper and Jimmy Snuka, and of course, John Cena's shocking comeback.
3. 2007 - I have a soft spot for this largely because of the great final four. Rated RKO vs. Michaels and Undertaker, before Michaels and Undertaker basically had a legitimate one-on-one match to decide the winner.
4. 2001 - It's big, loud fun that is the Attitude Era distilled to its purest form.
5. 1998 - Three Faces of Foley, everyone gunning for Stone Cold, and the true star turn for The Rock. Much like 2001, it's just fun from beginning to end.
BOTTOM FIVE
5. 2000 - There was no one else in the match in The Rock's galaxy, so it was just a 60-minute inevitability before The Rock won.
4. 2022 - A disjointed mess that featured Shane McMahon returning and playing the role of conquering badass, Kofi Kingston butchering his annual Rumble save spot, and Brock Lesnar returning and squashing the entire competition in about three minutes.
3. 1999 - It's more of an advancement of the Austin vs. McMahon storyline than an actual match. There are large swaths of the match where either no one or only one person is in the ring, and Stone Cold is WWF Poochie throughout the match.
2. 1996 - Just an ugly mess of jobbers, showing just how low WWF had sunk in late 1995/early 1996. Outside of Shawn Michaels and Diesel, nobody in the match feels like a big deal.
1. 2015 - Hands down the worst. Daniel Bryan's big comeback story is snuffed out in a matter of minutes. Big Show and Kane have their ultimate "local men" moment, dumping out fan favorites like literal garbage. Roman Reigns is so disliked that even The Rock gets lustily booed. Just a fiasco from top to bottom.

I rate 1997 incredibly high almost exclusively due to steve austin. He carried that thing from front to back

I'm not going to rank them so much as tier them, but I'm thinking something like... Best: 1992, 2001 Good: 1990, 1993, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2018 Men's, 2018 Women's, 2019 Women's, 2021 Women's Okay: 1988, 1989, 1994, 1996, 1997 (iffy on it, but I figured Austin's performance is good enough to elevate it), 2000, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2016, Greatest Royal Rumble, 2019 Men's Bad: 1991, 1995, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2020 Women's, 2021 Men's Terrible: 1999, 2006, 2015, 2020 Men's Not Seen: 2022 Men's, 2022's Women's 2022's is excruciatingly bad. Shane's ego at it's absolute worst.
