There’s no other reason I could possibly think for this to happen.

I had a lot of fun watching the show back in the day, and it introduced me to some funny comedians like former DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion Ron Funches.
Wonder who they're getting to host it since it sounds like Chris Hardwick isn't coming back. Funches or Thomas Lennon could be fun hosts.

America is keeping james corden though... right? right? Nope sorry America will be trading him to Canada for the expiring contract of Matthew Perry and a player to be named later

Nope sorry America will be trading him to Canada for the expiring contract of Matthew Perry and a player to be named later No no no, we already got screwed out of Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling, and a bunch of other Hollywood actors. We're not taking James Corden. Send him to Germany; I hear they could use some "comedy" over there.

I liked @midnight because it gave podcast and lesser named comedians some run. Something tells me this is going to be unfunny B list actors

I know this show was popular in its day, I watched it when someone I liked was on it, don't even remember who. Never my thing, I stopped with late night shows when Letterman retired.
I'll throw the name Daniel Tosh as host out there, just because.

Chris Hardwick was such a kiss ass.
I remember one episode of @midnight where he promoted the audience to give Jim Gaffigan a round of applause.
Gaffigan was not on the show, they played a clip from Super Troopers he had a cameo in.

There’s no other reason I could possibly think for this to happen. They needed something, in his final episode, James Cordon ransacked the studio, sealed the crew inside then set it on fire before salting the earth to ensure nothing could grow there again, all while proclaiming himself a likeable everyman who doesn't understand why people think he's an a-hole. He's chubby and smiles, he can't be a boor, you see.
