Will Ospreay withdraws from New Japan Cup; Mark Davis announced as quarterfinal replacement. That's a bummer, hoping his injury won't be long term.

Ospreay has a shoulder injury, which will probably take some time to heal.

There was no excuse then Omega did not need the title and I get his desire to want that relationship to be open but I have no real desire to see him back in NJPW since the landscape has not changed since he left Bring the U.S. title back to Japan and drop it to someone like SANADA, Shingo, Tanahashi etc I don't get Gedo desire last few years to loan out his titles and basically take away from his show. You don't even have the IC title to lean on

And before that Jay White with the NEVER title or as said previously Mox with the U.S. title Also see at home with the usual Ishimori title reign of being long as hell and never defending it.

Plenty of guys he could have defended during this time period. Feuding with House of Black recently, a match between him and Brody King would be a banger.

Yeah, please do some title defenses. The Mox reign got real good in its second half due to those.
I do hope that if the Elite fail to re-win their title, he will make the belt more of a focus.
I also feel like this would be less of a focus if Tama Tonga wasn't also kind of barely doing anything with the NEVER title right now.

For sure but Gedo has been someone that likes to play with fire Right now it looks like he really has no direction and just sticking with status quo (Okada, Hiromu) until he can figure something out. If Ospreay injury is serious, that basically throws Dominion out the door which is where I expected Ospreay to win I'd consider having the G1 winner win and hold the title until Dominion and dropping it back to Okada if anything at this point if Ospreay is out. Feels like Gedo needs to take a risk with an act that could use it like a SANADA since I feel even stronger now he would win Tho the Naito one more run is there as well that fans are always down for

Ospreay's injury is putting a damper on things if he's planned to have won it in the coming months.
