So it’s clear that he’s going to end up being a Cena/Orton/Roman/Seth type Main Eventer. I think winning the US title multiple times, beating Rollins, Edge and Lashley are good moves but I don’t think he’s ready to beat Cena at Wrestlemania yet in one of his last matches. I hope they don’t strap a world title on him this year. I think guys like Sami, Gunther, and LA knight deserve a turn before Theory. I think the best time to strap him up would be either late 2024 or early 2025. He’s got all the tools to be a success but I feel like he’s missing a certain something. Maybe he should do some oddball tag team like Bryan? Am I the only one who sees a GUNTHER world title reign going not so great? Like I feel like in between his meat slapping, there's not a lot there that the audience is going to be invested in long term. It may not... but with what he's done on the main roster, I still want to see him have a chance at a run at some point.

Put him back with The Way and make him dumb again. That’s the only time I’ve liked his character. This super serious midcard champ stuff isn’t working for me. I agree. I love seeing heels act dumb. This is what Theory should be:

1. Have him lose clean to Pat McAfee 2. Try to get him his heat back by having Vince come "wrestle" Pat McAfee 3. Glass Breaks- Austin stuns everyone and has a beer bash.
Wait, what?

To me he’s in his 2003-2004 Randy Orton role. He just needs a legit match to get him truly over like Foley did with Orton. I’m fine with him facing Cena at Mania, but in no way should he win.

Austin Theory to me is like Mr. Kennedy but without the catchphrase.
He's just A Dude, and WWE can't seem to decide if he's a joke or not. I don't know how they expect fans to receive him if even they don't know what to make of the guy.

He can be pretty good in the ring with the right opponent but so can a lot of people and outside of that the dude is just wildly uninteresting.

Have him drop the US title to Cena at Wrestlemania and be down in the dumps for a month or so because he lost his biggest match ever. Each week one of Gargano/Dexter/Indi/Candice can talk to him to try motivate him and he brushes it off at first but eventually he caves in and embraces them. Maybe like he saves them from a Judgment Day beating and you get The Way reunited feuding with JD.
Being the goofy, oblivious guy in The Way is what got him over in NXT and at this point I think it's clear a lot of main roster fans don't watch NXT so I think you just replay that on Raw or Smackdown for a while. I think they would get over as a fun face stable.

Week four, Dexter gives him a thumbs up, Theory breaks down in tears and hugs him.

Either actually push him by giving him clean wins and expanding on his character or take the title of him and try something else. This middle ground isn't working for me. This is a problem I've had with WWE ever since Cena's initial mega-push backfired on them. They do this all the time. They still want to push a guy who's unpopular, so they do it in such a weak way that they think the audience won't notice they're still pushing him and they'll relent with their backlash. It ruined face Cena and it ruined face Reigns. I'm sure there are other examples. If you want to push a guy, then flippin push him - crowd be damned. If you just power through and present the guy as a legitimate winner, the crowd might eventually just give up and accept it, which happened with Roman now and the Bloodline in many ways. ...are you seriously saying that WWE was attempting to be subtle with the Cena and Reigns mega pushes? This has nothing to do with Theory not getting clean wins, which is a general issue with smaller heels never being booked as in-ring threats on their own. Even guys with broad support and superior talent like Rollins and current Balor aren't immune to this, the only person to avoid it in the past few years was AJ and that's because he's such a transcendent talent. They don't know what to do with young, athletic guys as heels and worry that they'll get too over as faces so they limit how good they can look in-ring.

Cena, I'll say, they just outright gave the mega-push, and leaned into "some a y'all love me, some a y'all hate me" with his promos. With Roman, they gave him a bunch of Mania main events, but also were so wishy-washy with his push. Like, there was a long time on this forum where people were going "coronate him, give him his long reign as The Guy already, and then move on when that doesn't work" because it seemed like what they were itching to do but wouldn't pull the trigger. Now, obviously, that's not the case, he's cemented as The Guy, but for awhile there it seemed like they would creep up to it and then back away a few times.

Honestly, just let him keep working with strong workers and he'll continue to develop. Cena/Theory should be good - Cena should definitely win, but I think it's going to be a better match than people expect.
I get people want Theory to go back to The Way, but honestly, Gargano/Candice aren't lighting the world on fire yet and Lumis is DOA. It'd do Theory a disservice to put him back there.
