He's been off the rails since the 2000s and his strips have been filled with attacks against straw man versions of his personal boogiemen/women/minority or hyping whatever nonsense tech Scott liked at the time.
Guess nobody under 60 reading papers anymore helped him slide under the radar.

I am surprised it took him this long to screw up this much.
He seems genuinely unwell. He keeps being more and more unhinged on social media, along with years back getting busted doing stuff like using a sockpuppet account to fight people/defend himself on I think Reddit. I just remember him humiliating himself again and again and again online.
I also remember him going on a weird rant that people should kill their sons if they are becoming criminals and that he's been mugged dozens of times or some other weird hyperbole.

It's a shame because old Dilbert is pretty great. But the dude lost his god damn mind a while ago.

Sadly Adams seems like the kind of guy who'll revel in this if only because it'll give him a chance to start screaming about cancel culture and crap like that.

yeah I'd heard he'd become a bit of a far right crank but if this is what he's like now, good riddance.

Okay, how many people who never liked Dilbert come out of the woodwork to say how unfair this is, as if they cared all along?

I'd argue Dilbert stopped being funny or original about the same time Garfield did, which is to say, 2005-2010ish, and in the great tradition of newspaper comics, he's been coasting along on momentum and day-by-day calendars since.
In hindsight you can kind of see the beginnings of this in Adams' diatribes from the point of where Dilbert got popular enough and he got enough clout for people to care about his opinions or hire him as a guest speaker, but this may be the biggest complete lack of surprise at a creator turning out like that for quite some time.

I enjoyed the strip in the 90s (It actually didnt really become exclusively about office stuff until 1992 or so), but after the animated series (which I also enjoyed and found superior to the strip), I lost interest in it. I just hope this means our paper drops it for Lio, Brewster Rockit, or Get Fuzzy.

I guess I'll just stick to my fond memories of the animated series. I had an inkling I didn't like Adams much, but I had no idea how far around the bend he'd gone. Shame.

Also just realized, in hindsight, I can't remember a single instance of a POC being depicted in Dilbert even as background characters other than Asok, and he's essentially an Indian tech stereotype, so yeah.
