I haven't been myself for the past few days. You could say that I've been having a bad week. However, I have been trying to make myself feel better. I went for a long walk this morning and brought some music along. Yesterday I went for a walk because I had a bad day yesterday. I also watched a movie to help with it. It was a comedy, so I needed a laugh.
Some say that meditation helps. I did a little of it, but I only got up to three minutes. What is the standard time for meditation?
Also, what do you guys do when you're down or angry? Just wondering.

Listen to my music and try to just tune the world out, even if it's just for a few minutes. During these moments none of the world problems matter and it's just me and my imagination.

During the day, I distract myself. I go to work, or if it's a weekend I invest my attention into a video game because I can get lost in it without requiring brain power. I will talk to family or close friends. When I go to bed, I'll watch something familiar and comforting. A comedy or a childhood favorite movie. I remind myself that the feeling will get better and pass within a few days.

Generally just sit around fuming over it for awhile before eventually turning it inward into intense self-loathing for a couple days.

I go eat something god awful like 3 boxes of Mac and Cheese/dozen cheeseburgers/multiple pizzas and I pass out on the couch at 7pm while I regret eating all that garbage.
I wake up the next day when I'm in a better headspace and consider, "At least that was better than taking meth"
If the time frame is longer than a day I end up doing a lot of "wandering" in parks and cemeteries. It's kinda my brains way of ever-so-slightly countering the 10,000 calorie Day 1 stupidity.

There are some guided meditation videos on YouTube. Those might help.

Something that works for me, but I understand may not be for everyone, is hypothesizing what the worst case would be and start figuring out how I can prepare for that. It pretty much never comes to pass, but there's comfort in knowing that if it did I'm not blindsided.
Other than that, going to the gym helps me a lot. Gives me a sense of accomplishment whatever else happened that day, and the endorphins help push the negativity out.

Talking it out with friends and/or my therapist.
Escapism - video games usually, though certain TV shows or movies also work.
Weed.
Used to binge eat but I've thankfully unlearned that particular bit of coping. I'll still eat something good and cheesy if I'm feeling down but I won't intentionally eat to excess anymore. So that's something at least.

This, but also sometimes listening to music to let out whatever I'm feeling. Not letting yourself feel things tends to make it worse, and sometimes listening to a sad or angry song can be really cathartic and helpful.

Video game escapism, binge on standup comedy specials, disconnect from social media and anything involving real-time communication. If I'm alone, I'll blast music and sing/scream along with it.
Used to go for long walks until I messed up my knee. I can still do them now, but for not as long and I gotta be more careful about where I walk.

Pick a thing that you can enjoy and just go down that rabbit hole. For me it’s reading, random YouTube videos, or just going to sleep. I also meditate but I do that regularly anyways. If you’re not a regular meditator then 3 minutes is a good start as you’re not going to be able to get into that super relax meditation and stay still for a long time. Just try to go for as long as you can with no time pressure. 3 minutes if good meditation is better than 10 minutes where you’re thinking about the time.

This one is huge. Social media can be soul sucking when you're not going through something, and it can be so much worse when you are.

One thing I like to do is watch a movie I've already seen countless times.
When I'm in those moods, I don't have the mental bandwidth to watch anything new. It's comforting to watch something I already know I'll enjoy.

Work out. Rewatch old favorites I haven’t seen in a while. Be it shows, or movies or scenes or whatever. Tend to go to my “safe space” which is just a Barnes and noble. Reading anything for a bit other than screen. I tend to find tasks, chores, stuff I’ve put off and focus on them.
Taking long walks with just music is good. I found taking walks without a cell phone was incredibly jarring. But I understand if that’s not doable.
Meditation works but I lack the patience these days. You might wanna try giving it another shot. Breathe, focus on breath. Be alone with your thoughts uninterrupted so to speak.

Treat myself, pig out at a favorite Indian restaurant, get around to buying that book or game I’ve had my eye on for a while and go to the park or beach with a few cans to enjoy it.

I do or say something kind for someone. Whether I know them, or they're a random stranger online. I find power and comfort in knowing that even at my lowest moment, I can bring some joy to someone else's day.

If I can, Defecate.
Seriously, sounds weird, but I find a long poop session on the toilet can be quite therapeutic. Provides the setting to just tune out and collect your thoughts
