As it was booked before the Instagram meltdown it may have been a way to re-debut Punk that he has knowingly or not thrown away.
Mogul Affiliates acting as Callis-bought mercenaries would be a good choice to slot in as substitutes if so...

It's Jeff Cobb, he's been calling out Omega the past weeks in New Japan as he wants The US Title. It could be Jeff, though even if he did it, it's possible Callis would have paid him to do it, much like how his first AEW appearance was him being paid by Jericho to beat up Moxley. Otherwise, the Young Bucks aren't really necessarily going to be in his crosshairs, I'd figure, unless maybe it was fellow UE guys wanting to play mindgames.
