Watching it now (couldn't watch live) and it's embarrassing. Ric gotta talk about his favorite person, Richard Fliehr. Go home, Ric.

After that introduction, I was really hoping that Muta would mist him.

Didn’t Ric do the same thing when he inducted Sting a few years back?

The Hall of Fame has agents for segments and there's go-over steps on speeches, so the frustrating part of all this is that not only did Flair do that, but at least one person was like "Yeah sure this sounds good just make Muta's thing all about you" and let him do it. WWE has so much trouble telling this man "no" for anything.

I don't know if she would've been comfortable doing it, but I would've rather had Asuka up there to induct Muta. I know her English isn't great either, but at least it would be meaningful to her and she would speak about Muta. Haven't watched it yet, but have they ever used a translator for the HoF? Because that seems like a solid solution. You still get the speaker's sense of emotion without a glaring language barrier. For whatever reason (Vince, Vince is the reason), WWE has always been super shy about translators when it would make so much more sense. The only person I can remember them regularly using an on screen translator at all is Khali and even then, Ranjin's translations were a complete work.

Whenever you think he can't embarrass himself even further he proves you wrong.

Meanwhile Shinsuke Nakamura, who speaks perfectly good English, gave Muta one of his last ever matches, and is in a MUCH better position to give a retrospective on Muta’s career, isn’t on the WM card at all.

I am just picturing Shinsuke giving the induction like: "He gave me the honor of one of his final matches... and then he called me queer. Ah, memories."
